Within the NCAA's toughest wrestling conference surrounded by an administration who believes that basketball is the only sport that happens in the winter, I would say that Angel Escobedo & the Hoosiers of Indiana are doing quite a good job on the wrestling mat. Gone is three time NCAA qualifier Brock Hudkins & although his career was plagued by injuries I'll also throw in a word for Paul Konrath. As to Kasper McIntosh, I'm not sure where he is currently at. Hook for the Hoosiers to send at least six to the dance this season.
125 lbs Jacob Moran |
Jacob Moran picked up an assortment of notable victories last season. Among them SOCON champion Fabian Gutierrez of Chattanooga, Colton Camacho of Pittsburgh, Logan Heil of Campbell, Brock Bergelin of Central Michigan & Jake Ferri of Kent State.
141 lbs Cayden Rooks |
An NCAA qualifier in 2021, I would look Cayden Rooks to once again qualify for the NCAA's in 2023. Among his notable victories last season, a 9-8 decision over three time All American Chad Red Jr of Nebraska.
149 lbs Graham Rooks |
A two time NCAA qualifier for the Hoosier, Graham Rooks picked up notable wins over MAC champion Kody Komara of Kent State as well as Kanen Storr of Michigan.
184 lbs D.J. Washington |
Moving up to 184 lbs last season was an adjustment for D.J. Washington, but now that he's had a full season at the weight, I think we can expect some big things out of the two time NCAA qualifier this year. He was 13-8 on the season.
197 lbs Nick Willham |
A 10-11 record for Nick Willham last season, nearly all of his losses were 1 or 2 point matches. If he could turn those losses into wins, I think for sure he can be a top 33 wrestler by season's end, if not better.
HWT Jake Bullock |
Jake Bullock had some nice victories last season including Boone McDermott of Rutgers & Michael Woulfe of Purdue. He will contend for NCAA qualification this season.
