2023 NCAA Division III The Season: Springfield

The Pride is looking rather competitive this season. I'm not sure how many NCAA Division III qualifiers we're looking at but we are definitely looking at a team that will be competitive within the Regional.  They did lose 2020 NCAA Division III qualifier Chris Trelli, but they return 6 Regional place-winners one of which finished a match shy of being an All American.

125 lbs
Joey Manginelli

Junior Joey Manginelli had himself a very good season last year. Didn't quite finish where he wanted to at the Northeast Regional taking 3rd place & didn't quite finish where he wanted to at the NCAA DIII tournament finishing a match shy of All American status. This year he will for sure be a contender to win a Regional title & earn his first medal from the national tournament.

133 lbs
Gianni Manginelli

Not as consistent as brother Joey, but still turned it on at the Northeast Regional & came within one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification. I do believe Gianni Manginelli will be a qualifier for the Pride this season.

I grouped all three of these guys together because I pretty much feel the same way about all three and I have pretty much the same opinion of all three. All three of these guys Chase Parrott, Jake DeGuire & Michael Filieri finished 5th at the Northeast Regional last season. All three will again compete strong within the Regional and all three are more than capable of being NCAA Division III qualifiers this season.  Got some good east coast representation here with Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

197 lbs
Sam Ware

A Massachusetts native, Ware only had a 6-5 season last year but still managed to wrestle well enough at the Northeast Regional to take 7th place. I'm anxious to see what he can do with a full season of wrestling. From what I was able to see of him, seems to have a pretty good gas tank. In college wrestling that can be a great asset.
