Thunder & lighting with heavy winds and tremendous rainfall will continue to hit NCAA Division II wrestling as the Storm returns most of its talent from last season. While Two time NCAA DII qualifier/All American Chris Droege & 21' Qualifier Sean O'Hearon as well as John Penfold have all graduated, Lake Erie returns five of their Region place winners, including two who went on to be All Americans. Tyler Swiderski who was 3rd in the Super Region III last season has decided to give NCAA Division I wrestling a go as he has transferred to Central Michigan.
125 lbs Jordan Rodriguez |
Sophomore Jordan Rodriguez put together a pretty good rookie season last year going 16-8 on the season & taking a 5th place showing at the Super Region III.
133 lbs Corey Gamet |
Corey Gamet had himself an excellent sophomore season last year going 21-3 on the year, winning a Super Region III title and claiming a 5th place All American finish at the NCAA Division II Championships.
149 lbs Jack Haskin |
Jack Haskin was another tough freshman for the Storm last season as he put together a 22-8 record & finished one match shy of NCAA Division II qualification taking a 4th place finish at the Super Region III.
157 lbs Conner Liber |
Now that Tyler Swiderski has transferred to Central Michigan, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Conner Liber were to step in and fill the position at 157 lbs. He went 8-3 on the year last season.
165 lbs James Penfold |
Two time NCAA Division II qualifier James Penfold had himself a standout year last season. Going 18-4, he was a runner-up at the Super Region III, earning 8th place All American honors at the NCAA Division II championships.
HWT |
Ronnie D'Amico who has thus far placed 6th & 5th at the Super Region III, looks to earn a third Region medal this season.
