2023 NCAA Division III The Season: Southern Maine

The Loss of Northeast Regional Runner-up Jake Peavey, who was also a Scholar All American one match shy of placing at the NCAA Division III championships, will be felt. As will the loss of Aidan Whitis, a regional place-winner last season. However the Huskies do return a NCAA DIII qualifier as well as two other Regional medalists.

133 lbs
Ethan Ford

The Massachusetts native took 17 wins on the year last season with an 8th place finish at the Northeast Regional.

149 lbs
Colby Frost

Only a freshman last season, Maine native Colby Frost put together an admirable 28-10 record last season qualifying for his first NCAA Division III tournament appearance with a 3rd place finish at the Northeast Regional.  NCAA DIII is one of the hardest divisions of wrestling to become a four time qualifier because of the # of schools is so much larger (32 qualifiers/109 varsity positions per weight class) than the number of qualifiers. Frost has the ability to be one of the rare that do make it to the national tournament four times.

197 lbs
Anthony Mears

Anthony Mears batted 500 last season going 12-12, but he did manage to wrestle well enough to capture 8th place honors at the Northeast Regional.  He'll look to turn that record into a winning one this season as the sophomore goes for Regional medal #2.
