2023 NCAA Division III The Season: UW-Platteville

 



Seniority and experience often go hand in hand and that is the case with this year's UW-Platteville squad. The Pioneers return three NCAA Division III qualifiers, one All American & 7 Upper Midwest Regional place-winners. Graduation took Nick Dado, a WIAC runner-up. 

125 lbs
    Isaac Wiegel       OR     Nolan McKittrick

Isaac Wiegel made the NCAA Division III national tournament last season with a 3rd place finish at the Upper Midwest Regional tournament. He also won a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) title, as he was 2nd in 2021.  He will be challenged for his spot by sophomore Nolan McKittrick who earned 20 wins & a 3rd place finish at the WIAC himself. Among his victories, a 10-8 decision over Millikin All American Thomas Russell. 

133 lbs
Zach Thompson 

Two time All American Zach Thompson enters his senior season after taking a 7th place finish at last year's NCAA Division III championships. He was 5th in 2021.  He will look to win a WIAC title & a Regional title as well as earn his third All American honor this season. 

141 lbs
Zach Licht

Senior Zach Licht was 12-3 last season in route to a WIAC runner-up finish and a 5th place showing at the Upper Midwest Regional. 

149 lbs
Brock Parker 

Brock Parker, a WIAC champion last season, nearly made the NCAA Division III tournament when he took a 4th place finish at the Upper Midwest Regional. 21-8 on the season he will look to earn another conference title as well as NCAA Division III qualification this season. 

165 lbs
Alex Strueder          OR       Nathan Wynsma


Despite having a losing record of 13-16, Alex Strueder still managed to win a WIAC title & take a 7th place finish at the Upper Midwest Regional.  He will be challenged by Nathan Wynsma, a fellow senior who was runner-up at the WIAC in 2020.  Last season Wynsma took a 9-2 record with two impressive wins over 2021 All American Casey Allen of Cornell (IA) 9-0 & 4-0. 

197 lbs
Tyler Hannah 

An Upper Midwest champion this past season, Tyler Hannah came within one match of earning NCAA Division III All American status. 24-12 on the season, he was also a runner-up at the WIAC championships.

Brett Schoenherr

A Scholar All American for the Pioneers, Brett Schoenherr took a 5th place finish at the Upper Midwest Regional on a 17-17 record last season. He will look to improve both his record & his Regional placing this year.
