The Super Region V champions return a ton of talent this season which includes two All Americans, two R12'ers & four individual region champs. Gone is Garrett Vos who earned a 6th place All American finish in 2019 & back to back NCAA Division II runner up finishes in 2021 & 2022. Kameron Teacher who was an NCAA DII runner-up himself in 2018, with 3rd place finishes in 2019 & 2022. Noah Ryan who earned 7th place All American honors in 2021 & 6th place honors in 2022. William Pitzner a qualifier in 2021. These four individuals provide testimony to the enormous amount of talent that has been & will continue to be Husky wrestling.
125 lbs Paxton Creese |
19-4 on the season, Paxton Creese won a Super Region V title & finished one match shy of NCAA Division II All American honors.
141 lbs Joey Bianchini OR Cameron Riggs |
Have two very talented wrestlers here at 141 lbs for the Huskies. Joey Bianchini enters his final season of collegiate wrestling a three time Regional champion & two time All American. An NCAA Division II runner-up in 2021, he went 30-1 last season in route to a 3rd place finish. A tough hombre in his own right, Cameron Riggs was 13-4 on the season. He took Bianchini to a 4-2 decision.
149 lbs Nick Novack |
Sophomore Nick Novack came close to earning his first NCAA Division II All American honor this past season. 21-6 on the year he won a Super V Region title & finished R12 at the national tournament.
157 lbs Anthony Herrera OR Colby Njos OR James Pierandozzi |
Looking at an all out war for who the starter will be at 157 for the Huskies. We're talking three very tough individuals. Anthony Herrera an NJCAA All American transfer of Western Wyoming who earned NCAA Division II All American honors last season with a 5th place finish on a 20-3 record. Colby Njos, 3rd in 2021 who was 15-2 last season. Sophomore James Pierandozzi, a contender in his own right. Last season Herrera nose-haired his spot by defeating Njos 4-2 tiebreaker & 2-1 and edging Pierandozzi 4-3. Whoever starts here we're probably looking at a Region champion/All American. Deep, deep weight.
165 lbs Jared Head |
A transfer from Old Dominion Jared head went 12-7 capturing a 6th place finish at Super Region V.
174 lbs Dominic Murphy |
Trained by the Tsirtsis brothers while in High School, Dominic Murphy came within one match shy of NCAA Division II qualification with a 4th place finish at the Super Region V. He went 23-6 on the season.
