2023 NCAA Division III The Season: Augsburg

One of the top teams in NCAA Division III, the Auggies of Augsburg will continue to dominate once again this season. Upper Midwest Regional champions & 3rd in the NCAA Division III championships, Augsburg returns four of six NCAA qualifiers, two of which were All Americans.  Gone is four time NCAA Division III qualifier, two time All American Solomon Nielsen who was 2nd in 21' & 5th this past season.  Also gone is Nick Rogge a two time NCAA DIII qualifier who was 5th in 2021.

Derek Steele

The two time Minnesota High School State champion had himself a pretty good run last year as a freshman. 23-8 on the season he won a Upper Midwest Regional & qualified for his first NCAA Division III tournament appearance.

Sam Stuhl                        OR                       Cade Willis

After spending sometime at North Dakota State, Sam Stuhl made the most of his first full season as an Auggie by taking a runner-up finish at the Upper Midwest Regional & finishing one match shy of NCAA Division III All American honors.  He was 24-7 on the season. Ironically enough, also 24-7 on the season was Cade Willis, a sophomore who will push Stuhl in the room this season.  A grand champion pig shower at the Wisconsin State Fair, Willis had impressive wins over Zach Thompson an All American of UW-Parkside & National qualifier Dan Urbine of Wabash.

149 lbs
Charlie Stuhl

29-13 on the season, Charlie Stuhl who was a national qualifier in 2021, finished 5th at the Upper Midwest Regional last year. He will look to earn qualification #2 this season.

157 lbs
Tyler Shilson         OR          Kaden Reitz

Tyler Shilson goes into his senior season looking to become a three time NCAA Division III All American and perhaps make a run at the national title.  33-4 on the year, he took another bronze medal after having also finished 3rd in 2021.  I don't think that Kaden Reitz will upend him for the starting spot, but nonetheless Reitz does deserve mention for being one of the best backups in the country. 23 victories last season he defeated Darian Estevez 8th place All American of Chicago as well as a technical fall of 2021 DIII qualifier Collin Quandt of Nebraska Wesleyan.

165 lbs
Matt Rogge

Sophomore Matt Rogge nearly made the NCAA Division III tournament last season when he finished 4th at the Upper Midwest Regional. He was 24-16 on the season.

197 lbs
Bentley Schwarbeck Osterman

Bentley Schwarbeck Osterman makes another Auggie looking to become a three time NCAA Division III All American this season. 6th in the nation the past two years, he will look to earn a third medal.

HWT
Tyler Kim

And yet we have another Auggie going for his third All American honor this season. A runner-up in 2021, Tyler Kim was 38-8 on the season last year with 19 falls that lead him to a 4th place finish at the NCAA Division III championships.  Having defeated last year's NCAA Champ Jordan Lemcke of UW-Oshkosh 3-1, he will make a run for a title himself this season.
