The Pioneers return ALL of their six Region Place-Winners as well as all of their six Mountain East Conference (MEC) finalists! One thing I will say about head coach Dylan Cottrell is that he isn't afraid to have his boys wrestle. You won't see too many guys with 10 to 15 matches here. These guys get on the mat. Most having right around 40+ matches.
133 lbs Alec Fulwider |
Consistency is a bit of an issue, but giving it Hell on the mat is not. Alec Fulwider's 16-21 record may not be much to look at, but he wrestled tough last season earning a MEC runner-up finish and a 5th place finish at the Super Region III. This will be his final season as a Pioneer.
141 lbs Ethan Hardy |
Ironically enough despite not placing at the Super Region III, Ethan Hardy was the only Pioneer to win a MEC title this past season.
149 lbs Gavin Quiocho |
Another MEC runner-up for the Pioneers who also took 5th place honors at the Super Region III was sophomore Gavin Quiocho who went 30-13 on the season.
174 lbs Hunter DeLong |
Silver within the MEC & bronze within the Super Region III Hunter DeLong came within one match shy of earning NCAA Division II All American status last season when he finished in the R12. He put 32 wins against 13 losses.
184 lbs Cole Houser |
Going 32-11 on the season, Cole Houser took home runner-up finishes from both the MEC & the Super Region III.
197 lbs Jordan Williams |
One match shy of NCAA Division II qualification with a 4th place finish at the Super Region III, Jordan Williams was 25-7 on the season, earning a silver medal at the MEC championships.
HWT Luke Martin |
An up & down season for Luke Martin in his 12-12 record, he was 6th in the Super Region III & he did earn a win over a Division I opponent from West Virginia.
