2023 NCAA Division III The Season: Wartburg

A lot has changed since I first started watching collegiate wrestling 32 seasons ago. I can't believe some of the vast differences between how wrestling was in 1991 Vs how it'll be in 2023. Yet some things, even after all of this time have remained the same. When you thought NCAA Division III wrestling, you thought Wartburg. It's been that way forever and it'll continue to be that way. They may not always be #1, but they are always in the discussion. Graduation took two time All American Brady Kyner who was 5th last season & 2nd in 2021 as well as 2021 NCAA DIII Champion Kyle Briggs who took 3rd place finishes in both 2019 & 2022. Back are seven Knights who earned NCAA DIII qualification, six of which were All Americans.

133 lbs
Joe Pins

He may not always pins, but what he usually does is wins. Two time NCAA Division III All American Joe Pins has thus far earned finishes of 3rd & 8th as he enters his junior season. The Dubuque, Iowa native will be on a mission to earn his third of what he hopes to eventually be four top 8 finishes.

141 lbs
Zayren Terukina

An NCAA DIII finalist this past season, Zayren Terukina looks to become one of the few wrestlers from the state of Hawaii that has ever gotten to call themselves a national champion in the sport of wrestling. This will be his final season as a Knight.

149 lbs
Kris Rumph

Senior Kris Rumph has thus far earned two All American honors and will be going for his third this year. He was 2nd in 2021 & 5th this past season.

149 lbs
Brady Fritz

Another senior among the strong lineup of Knight upperclassmen, Brady Frtiz will also be going for his third All American honor this season. 6th in the nation in 2019, he was a runner-up in 2021.

157 lbs
David Hollingsworth

A national champion his sophomore season of 2021, David Hollingsworth was 6th in the nation this past season. He will look to reclaim his throne and earn his third NCAA Division III All American honor this season.

174 lbs
Zane Mulder

Another of the black & orange looking to eventually become a four time All American, junior Zane Mulder has thus far finished 2nd & 4th in his illustrious career.

184 lbs
Cael Krueger

An NCAA DIII qualifier in 2021, Cael Krueger will look to join his fellow Knights as an All American this season.
