2023 NCAA DIII The Season: Baldwin Wallace

Young and hungry the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace return five NCAA Division III qualifiers, one of which was a national champion & another which was an NCAA runner-up to the lineup this season. I think we very well could be looking at 6 qualifiers & three All Americans this season.

125
Jacob Decatur

We could very well be looking at a four time NCAA Division III champion. Ohio State transfer Jacob Decatur went 35-1 in route to winning the national title this past season. His only loss, the NCAA Division II champ. He did not suffer a single takedown last year.

133
Jaden Hinton

Talented sophomore Jaden Hinton was 3rd in the Central Region last year qualifying for the NCAA DIII championships. The New Jersey native went 25-11 on the season.

149 lbs
Michael Petrella

Father Paul was the first NCAA DIII champion for Baldwin Wallace & Michael Petrella darn near went the distance himself this past season as he finished as the national runner-up with a 37-3 record. Only a sophomore, the future is bright for Petrella.

174 lbs
Donovan Palmer

Another talented sophomore on the Yellow Jacket team, Donovan Palmer qualified for his first NCAA Division III championships finishing 3rd in the Central Region last season. He went 23-13 on the season.

184 lbs
Luke Salmon

The general consensus on collegiate wrestling is that bottom is the toughest position, but from observation alone it seems the area Luke Salmon is most comfortable in. Leading the team in reversals last season he made the Central Region finals and finished one match shy of All American honors. He was 25-5 on the year.

197 lbs
Doug Byrne

An NCAA DIII qualifier in 2020, Doug Byrne went 21-3 on the season last year. I think he'll make it back to the national tournament this season.
