2023 NAIA The Season: Hastings

The Broncos lose a couple of tough wrestlers due to graduation including Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) champion Taygen Smith and GPAC runner-up Thomas Stevenson who were both NAIA qualifiers last season, but return two other NAIA qualifiers plus two more who have a shot at qualification as well.

133 lbs
Kavika Aholelei

A native of California, Kavika Aholelei put together a 20-10 record last season, finishing 4th at the GPAC tournament. He should improve upon his record and contend for NAIA qualification this season.

141 lbs
Edrich Nortje

South African Edrich Nortje qualified for the NAIA championships last year with a 3rd place finish at the GPAC tournament. He'll look for another high GPAC finish as well as a second NAIA qualification in his final season as a Bronco.

149 lbs
Trystan Berry

Senior Tristan Berry put together a respectable 21-17 record last season as he finished 4th in the GPAC. He'll look to improve upon his record & gain NAIA qualification in his final season as a Bronco.

174 lbs
Trent Munoz

In 60 years of varsity wrestling, when it's all said and done, Trent Munoz may very well be the best pickup that Hastings has ever had. The kid wants to wrestle & do everything he can be be as good as he can. That was more than apparent when he finished his freshman campaign last season at an unbelievable 65-3. This included a GPAC championship & a runner-up finish at the NAIA national tournament. He continues to have records like this the next three seasons, he'll not only break career records for Hastings and the NAIA, he'll break them for all of collegiate wrestling. We could very well be looking at the best wrestler the Broncos will ever produce. Munoz is for real.
