Gone is the west coast trio of All American Shandon Akeo of Hawaii, three time NCAA Division III qualifier Robert Areyano of California & 2021 qualifier Sam Zook of Washington. The loss of these talents will be felt but The Dutch still have some hammers on their team that should step it up in their absence.
174 lbs Landon Kirby |
I am very excited to see what the future has in store for sophomore Landon Kirby. Landon's father Jeff, was my high school wrestling coach, so you can imagine how much I am behind the idea of seeing Landon succeed at the collegiate level. He's a tough kid, tough on top who enjoys going after the fall. The Lower Midwest Regional is such a tough tournament, but I definitely think he can place within the top 8 this season.
184 lbs Peyton Hammerich |
A 2021 NCAA Division III qualifier, senior Peyton Hammerich was one match shy of a second qualification last season when he placed 4th in the Lower Midwest Regional. He will look to earn a second qualification this year.
197 lbs Gage Linahon |
Junior Gage Linahon will be the leader among the Dutch this season. An impressive 26-9 record this past season, the Newton, Iowa native was 3rd in the Lower Midwest Regional qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships.
