2023 NCAA Division III The Season: Ithaca

 

The home of legendary Robert "Gino" Marella aka Gorilla Monsoon looks to have a very competitive season this year with two returning NCAA Division III qualifiers and two more who are more than capable of earning qualification themselves. Gone are All Americans Eze Chukwuezi who was 5th & Jordan Wallace who was 8th this past season, as is Ewin Rubio a Mideast Regional runner-up. 

133 lbs
Luis Hernandez 

Going 22-10 on the season last year, senior Luis Hernandez took runner-up honors in both the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) as well as the Mideast Regional. He will look to win titles in both the conference as well as the regional in his final season as a Bomber. 

141 
Travis Jones 

A two time ECWC champion, Travis Jones rook runner-up honors at the Mideast Regional after winning a title in 2020. A 24-12 record, he will look to win a third conference title and a second regional title this season. 

149 lbs
Matt Beyer 

Going 32-7 on the season last year senior Matt Beyer came exceptionally close to his first NCAA Division III qualification when he finished 4th at the Mideast Regional. The Two time ECWC finalist who won a title last season will look for his third conference finals appearance as well as his first qualification to the national tournament this year. 

157 lbs
Adam Wagner 

Another senior among the talented upperclassmen on the Bomber squad, Adaam Wagner was 27-10 last season winning an ECWC title as he took 7th place honors at the Mideast Regional. He'll look to win another conference title & improve upon his regional placing this season. 

165 lbs
Jackson Gray 

Sophomore Jackson Gray had himself a pretty impressive freshman year this past season. He went 20-12, took third in the ECWC & finished one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification when he took a 4th place finish at the Mideast Regional. With an assortment of upperclassmen continuing to feed him the knowledge known as experience he will continue to make strides.
