Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their best = Evansville

Today Evansville is a small NCAA Division I school, but during the time they had a wrestling program they were NCAA Division II.  I haven't been able to find a lot about the Purple Ace wrestling program but I do believe I can name you their best wrestlers.  The program was dropped after the 1980-1981 season. 

David Freije

After finishing third in the Indiana high school state championships, Freije made three trips to the NCAA Division II tournament for the Purple Aces.  He qualified in 1975, 1976 & 1977.    Post his collegiate carer he coached wrestling at both the junior high & high school level.  He passed away in 2019. 

Mike Meunier

Meunier was a three time NCAA qualifier in his own right also making trip sin 75', 76' & 77'. 

Sammy Lamb

Lamb was an NCAA qualifier for the Purple Aces in 1977.  He later coached at Central High school. He passed away in 2019.
