Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Black Hills State

Located in Spearfish, South Dakota the school motto of Black Hills State is "Where anything is possible."  If that's the case, then hopefully wrestling will one day be reinstated.   At the time the Yellow Jackets had a wrestling program they were NAIA, although the school today is NCAA Division II.

They hosted the 1964 NAIA championships.

Tom Springler
137 lbs

The year of 1967 was a good one to Tom Springler. He won a South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference (SDIC) title & took fourth place at the NAIA championships.
Bob Ward

A four time SDIC champion, Ward took fifth place NAIA All American honors in 1970.
Joe Giacometto

A graduate of Rapid City High School & also a member of the Yellow Jacket football team as a linebacker, Giacometto took fourth place All American honors at the 1989 NAIA championships.
