Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Valparaiso

According to some records that I have came across Valparaiso had a wrestling program up through the 1994-1995 season.  However, the little information that I've found on the program has all been during the time that the Crusaders were NCAA Division II.   The school has been NCAA Division I since the 1976-1977 season.  

Bob Montgomery

A two time Indiana College Conference champion, Montgomery qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament in 1967 & 1969.   He ended his career with a record of 44-3. 

Post college he had a career in Landscaping. 

Bob Thompson

A two time Indiana College Conference champion in his own right, Thompson made trips to the NCAA Division II tournament in 1974 & 1975.  He ended his career with a record of 82-17. 

Although he came to Valparaiso to wrestle for the Crusaders, his real love was soccer.  He started the varsity soccer program at Valparaiso & was team captain.  

Post college he taught P.E. & coached soccer at Victor High School in New York. He lead his team to eight league titles & an overall record of 163-45.
