Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Western Washington

Today the Vikings of Western Washington are NCAA Division II competing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.  During the time they had wrestling they were NAIA & competed in the Evergreen Conference. 


Ken Vandver
123 lbs 

Vandver was an NAIA All American in 1966 with a fifth place finish. 



Jim Chapman
145 lbs 

Chapman earned NAIA All American honors in 1967 with a third place finish. 


Lee Anderson
158, 150 lbs 

One of the best to compete for the Western Blue, Bay Blue & White, Lee Anderson won three Evergreen Conference titles during his time as a Viking.  In 1971 he placed fourth at the NAIA tournament, taking a fifth place finish in 1972. 

Post his collegiate career he took over as head coach at Ferndale High School.  He won 244 duals producing 61 State place-winners, 19 state finalists & eight state champions.  His teams placed fourth, second & first at the state championships.
