Two things can be true at the exact same time. No doubt about it, you known damn good and well that Coach Art Castillo has some very talented freshmen coming in. We're going to be introduced to some new stars soon enough. At the same time though, there are a lot of gaps to fill, left by some serious talent now out of NJCAA eligibility.
Zach Marrero, two-time Plains District champion & an NJCAA finalist last season. Already a U20 Bronze medalist. You know wherever this kid ends up, the next two seasons & beyond, he's going to continue having success. UPDATE: Headed to Clarion!
Dimitri Alarcon, another two-time Plains District champ, with back-to-back NJCAA finishes of 6th. A wrestler with high aspirations. Haven't heard where he's heading yet.
Tommy Dalton, one of the best NJCAA wrestlers in recent times to not win an individual title. Finished 2nd & 3rd the last two national championships. He's heading to Lander & I see him doing big things for Coach R.C. LaHaye
Hixon Canto, 6th & 7th the past two NJCAA's. Haven't heard where he's going yet.
Banks Norby, another two-time Plains District champ, 2nd in the 2026 NJCAA. He's heading to Northern Colorado.
Fran Ayala, 5th place in the NJCAA last year. No news on him yet.
Banks Love, another two-time Plains District champ, with 6th & 2nd place NJCAA finishes. He's gonna be a Mountaineer for West Virginia.
When I say that Coach Castillo graduated a heap of talent, I wasn't kidding.
What I know about what is coming back....

The two-time Oklahoma high school state champion solidified himself as a contender for the 2027 NJCAA championships, with a strong & solid 3rd place finish last year. He'll also be looking to put his name on that long list of Mustang two-time Plains District champions.

| 133 Nathan Fish |
You know a lineup is tough to crack, when a talent like four-time Wyoming High School state champion Nathan Fish is a backup. He did have some starts for the Mustangs last year at 125 lbs. Might still be a 125 lbs'er this year. Like to see him & Allen both in the lineup, rather than duke it out with one another.

A tough state champ out of Utah, that began his career at Purdue. Made the NJCAA finals last season & along with Allen, will be one of the Mustang's hopefuls for an NJCAA champ.

When you graduate 7 of your 10 starters, and all 7 of them were All-Americans, that leaves you with incredibly large shoes to fill. Yet, we already know, because he's shown us time and time again, that Art Castillo is already on it. Look for this to be another successful year of Western Wyoming wrestling.
