Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Texas Collegiate Championships Team Winners from Schools that No Longer Have Wrestling

Of all Collegiate wrestling tournaments, opens and invites this has to be the one that puzzles me the most.  From 1974 through 1979 there was a tournament held in Texas, made up of strictly Texas teams.  A few of these teams like Texas El-Paso & Richland Community College were varsity programs.  Others were club teams and others were strictly intramural.   Then some, I'm not 100% what they were. TCU for example wrestled in duals against varsity programs, but unlike Texas-El Paso they did not participate in an NCAA qualifier.

Nevertheless here are the schools that won the Texas Collegiate championships.  Ironically enough both Richland and Texas A&M both had varsity wrestling programs at one time, so they count as schools that officially used to have varsity wrestling, that no longer do.

Texas A&M (2) 1974, 1978

Richland (4) 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979
