Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team Championships Won by Schools that No Longer Have Wrestling.

The IIAA was originally known as the Illinois Intercollegiate Athletic Conference consisting of a ton of teams from Illinois. It was formed in 1908 and disbanded after the 1969-1970 season.  In the 1949-1950 season two schools from Michigan, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan joined the conference and to my understanding weren't thrilled about being in a conference with the name Illinois as they were from Michigan.  Thus the name changed that year from Illinois to Interstate.

From what I have been able to find IIAC sponsored wrestling from the 1952-1953 season up through the end of the conference in 1969-1970.

Here are the teams that won IIAC Titles who no longer have wrestling programs.

Illinois State (8) 1953, 1954, 1955, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969

Southern Illinois-Carbondale (4) 1956, 1959, 1961, 1962

Eastern Illinois (2) 1963, 1968
