The State University of New York Athletic Conference formed in 1958 used to sponsor wrestling as an official sport of the conference. I think it's stupid that they no longer do, considering that 5 of the 11 teams still have a wrestling program. (At one time I know that 10 of the 11 teams had wrestling. Maybe even all eleven but I have yet to find anything on Morrisville.)
Nevertheless the proof I have that SUNY-AC wrestling was at one time a real thing is that Potsdam (who no longer has wrestling) won the 1973 team title.
