The Empire 8 made up of strictly NCAA Division III Schools in New York was originally known as the ICAC (Independent Collegiate Athletic Conference). It was formed during the 1964-1965 school year and sponsored wrestling from the get go. As to win Empire 8 dropped wrestling as a sponsored sport, I do not know.
What I do know is schools from 1964-1965 through 1980-1981 that won the team title.
Here are schools that no longer have wrestling that won the Empire 8 championship.
RPI (3) 1965, 1966, 1972
Union (2) 1967, 1969
St. Lawrence (7) 1970, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979
