2023 NCAA DI The Season: Wyoming

Nearly all of the Cowboys top guns are back this season with the exception of Tate Samuelson who has decided to spend his final season of eligibility at Lehigh & Brian Andrews, a two time BIG 12 finalist, who has since graduated.

125 lbs
Garrett Ricks

An NJCAA champion for Western Wyoming last season, Garrett Ricks was 3rd in the NJCAA in 2021. Now he will test the waters of NCAA DI wrestling & it'll be interesting to see how he does among the BIG 12 competition.

133 lbs
Job Greenwood

15-12 on the season last year, Job Greenwood had some notable ups last season. Most impressive an 8-7 victory over two time All American Michael McGee of Arizona State. He also placed 4th at Reno. I can see him having a top 8 showing at the BIG 12's this year.

141 lbs
Darren Green

17-7 on the year, Darren Green is another Cowboy I can see placing within the top 8 in the BIG 12 this season.

149 lbs
Chase Zollman

An NCAA qualifier at 141 in 2021 with a 5th place finish in the BIG 12, Chase Zollman will now test the waters at 149 lbs. For record he has been R12 at CKLV as well as a Reno runner-up in the past.

157 lbs
Jacob Wright

I would consider three time NCAA qualifier Jacob Wright one of the best seniors going into the 22'-23' season yet to make All American.  Thrice 5th in the BIG 12, he was 3rd this past season winning a Reno Title & taking an impressive 3rd place finish at the Southern Scuffle (he was 5th in 2020).  With a 3-2 win over Michigan's Will Lewan, plus keeping NCAA finalist Quincy Monday of Princeton to a point & NCAA champion Austin O'Conner of North Carolina to two points, I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up top 8 NCAA by year's end.

165 lbs
Cole Moody

An NCAA qualifier with a BIG 12 Runner-up finish in 2021, with Keegan O'Toole of Missouri & David Carr of Iowa State both at the weight, it'll be difficult to once again make the conference finals, but he should once again contend for NCAA qualification.

174 lbs
Hayden Hastings

A Four time NCAA qualifier, Hayden Hastings who finished the R12 last season will go for both his fifth qualification & his first All American honor this season. At 6th-6th-3rd-5th, he will also fight for his first appearance in the BIG 12 finals. Thus far in his career he has made the RENO finals twice, winning a title last season & he's been 7th twice in the CKLV.

184 lbs
Guillermo Escobedo

Might be going out here on a limb a little bit, but I do feel that if Guillermo Escobedo can turn some close losses into wins, we could very well see him place top 8 in the BIG 12 this season. He doesn't really have any wins that stick out in particularly, but he does have a lot of close 1 & 2 point losses to some notable opponents. If he can turn those losses into wins, he can find himself ranked within the top 33.

197 lbs
Stephen Buchanan

Junior Stephen Buchanan will be a contender for the NCAA title this season. 8th in the nation in 2021, he was 3rd this past year.  A BIG 12 champion, he has also won titles at both RENO & CKLV.
