2025-2026 NCAA Division III Preview - 133 lbs

 NCAA DIVISION III 133 lbs

James Day
Wabash

The 133 lbs weight class in NCAA Division III is full of talent his year & James Day is among the top. 3rd & 4th thus far in the D3 nation, Day has Regional finishes of 2nd-3rd-3rd & he's been 3rd & 2nd thus far in the Concordia(WIS) open.  He went 39-7 in '24-'25.

Dom Mallinder
UW-Whitewater

The Warhawk has the rare opportunity this season to become both a four-time Regional champion & a four-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) champion.  Along with these accomplishments he also looks to become a three-time D3 All American (6th & 5th thus far) as well as a three-time Pete Willson place-winner (3rd & 1st thus far).  He was 25-4 last year.

Garrett Totten
TCNJ

The former Midshipmen of the Navy had an outstanding season for the Lions last year.  19-3 on the season, he won Region 3 & finished 6th in the D3 nation.

Chance Suddeth
Augsburg

If you've ever eaten a really good steak while in Wisconsin, there's a chance that it could've came from the Suddeth family beef cattle farm.  The junior has been 2nd & 1st thus far in Regionals, earning 7th place D3 All American honors last year.  29-8 on the season, he won both the Auggie Open & the MSOE open.

Connor Kidd
Luther

His go for broke style didn't always pay off last season, but when it did, it put the Spartan on the map. 22 wins in total, Kidd made the finals of Region 6 & took 8th place All American honors at the NCAA Division III tournament.

Isaias Torres
Ithaca

7th in the D3 nation in 2024, Isaias Torres narrowly missed out on his second All American honor last season.  2nd-1st-2nd in Regionals thus far he will look to become a four-time Regional finalist & two-time champion this season.  3rd-2nd-2nd in the Ithaca Invite, he will look to become a four-time place-winner & earn his first title.

Peyton Ellis
Johnson & Wales

30-4 on the year, Peyton Ellis finished one match shy of D3 All American honors last season, and I seriously doubt he ever ends another season without an All American plaque again.  Predictions can be so difficult to make at the D3 level, but I feel pretty safe in saying that I believe we're looking at a three-time D3 AA.  Ellis also took 2nd at Regional 1 & he was champion at the Ithaca Invitational.  Among his 30 wins, an 18-6 major over James Day, a 10-8 decision over Dom Mallinder & he stuck Connor Kidd at the 1:19 mark.

Jonah Paulino
Roanoke

Talk about another freshman from last season who finished one match shy of D3 All American honors, who also is in a boat looking to sail to a destination of a possible three AA's for it is all said and done.  Jonah Paulino 28-6 on the year was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) champion & the Region 4 runner-up.

Caden Frost
New England College

25 wins on the season, Caden Frost was 3rd in both Region I & at the Doug Parker Invite.

Danny Haws
Centenary

The Cyclone has yet to earn D3 All American honors in three trips to the national tournament (3rd-3rd-1st at Regionals) yet as far as I'm concerned he's as much of a title contender heading into '25-'26 as is anyone.  Runner-up at the Doug Parker invitational.

Jacob Blair
Delaware Valley

70 career wins Jacob Blair is a three-time NCAA Division III qualifier (2nd-2nd-3rd in Regionals) who finished 5th at the 2024 D3 Nationals.

     Vince Ziccardi          Tharon Svetanant
Washington & Lee

Vince Ziccardi won 23 matches last season for the Generals & earned NCAA Division III qualification with a 3rd place showing at Regional 4. Backup Tharon Svetanant showed some skills last year as well.  Defeated D3 R12'er Isais Torres 10-9.

Brody Toledo
UW-Oshkosh

Brody Toledo was one of the biggest surprises at Regional 7 last season when he made the finals.  Performance is a lot of times, right place at the right time.  Finished up freshman campaign with an 11-17 record.

Wyatt Magolski            Matt Haldiman
UW-La Crosse

The Eagles have two good ones here at 133 lbs.  Wyatt Magolski won 24 matches last season taking 3rd place showings at both Regional 7 & Pete Willson.   Teammate Matt Haldiman looked sharp last year too, including a 9-0 major decision over D3 All American Connor Kidd.

Trevor Cortright
Utica

Trevor Cortright nearly gave the Pioneers their first NCAA Division III qualifier last season when he finished 4th at Regional 1.  Matter of fact, he defeated Caden Frost 7-2 in the first round, but unfortunately then lost to him in the "do or die" match to qualify for D3 nationals. Utica's first SUNY-AC champion, when it comes to first for Utica, Trevor Cortright will add much more to the list.

Art Martinez
Case Western Reserve

I might catch some Hell for this, but I'll tell you right now, we're looking at an NCAA Division III title contender. I realize that at 5th-4th-4th in the Regionals, Art Martinez has yet to even make it to the national tournament.  How on earth could JT1Wrestle make such a bold prediction?  I'll tell you why.  Martinez has 95 career wins.  He went 40-10 last season.  Among those wins, three-time D3 All American Jaden Hinton & D3 All American Chance Suddeth.  5th at Pete Willson & a University Athletic Association (UAA) runner-up, Martinez won titles at John Summa, Albion & R.I.T.

Lucas Torre
Jersey City

24 wins on the season, Lucas Torre was one match shy of earning NCAA Division III qualification when he finished 4th at Regional 2.

Nolan Frye
Mount Union

Nolan Frye was one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification last season, finishing 4th at Region 4. He owned a 16-4 major decision over All American Connor Kidd.

Devin Murphy
Dubuque

We didn't see a whole lot out of the California native last season, but he wrestled well enough to nearly qualify for the D3 nationals with a 4th place showing at Regional 6.

Connor Krueger
St John's

Wasn't on the mat much but was on the mat enough to nearly qualify for the NCAA Division III championships as he finished 4th at Regional 7. Ended his season with a record of 8-6.

Drew Marchese
Castleton

18 wins on the season for Drew Marchese who enters his senior season having placed 5th in Regional 1 last year.  He's been 5th-3rd-3rd at the Ithaca Invitational & he's also collected two bronze medals at the Roger Williams Invite.  Among those 18 wins, a 2-1 decision over qualifier Jacob Blair.

Caden Heller won 24 matches this past season & earned himself a 5th place finish at Regional 3.  He's also a two-time Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) All-academic. Teammate Mason Casey looked pretty good in his own right, winning 23 matches & taking home the Ken Oberman title.

A.J. Orlando III
Averett

25 wins on the season, 3rd in the ODAC & 5th at Regional 4 for the Cougar last season.

Ethan Spacht
North Central

Academic All CCIW (Collegiate Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin),  Ethan Spacht won 25 matches on the season, earning runner-up finishes at both the CCIW & the prestigious Pete Willson Invitational.  A 6-5 decision over qualifier Wyatt Magloski, Spacht was 5th at Regional 5.

Travis Moelter
UW-Eau Claire

An NWCA Scholar All-American, Travis Moelter was 5th in Regional 7 last year.

Calvin Singewald
UW-Eau Claire

Also want to give some recognition to another Blugold, Calvin Singewald. 8th at the prestigious Pete Willson, he had a 2-0 victory over qualifier Wyatt Magolski.

Rocco Futia
SUNY-Cortland

28 wins on the season for Rocco Futia, who won the Racich Rumble, & placed 6th at Regional 2.

C.J. Horvath
Mulenberg

It was a 6th place finish at Regional 3 for C.J. Horvath last season.

Chris Vanderhorst
Ohio Northern

It was a up & down season for Chris Vanderhorst last year, but he did wrestle well enough to earn a 6th place finish at Regional 4.

Eli Sneed
 Cornell (IA)

27 wins on the year for Eli Sneed, who placed 6th at Regional 6.  Among his W's, an impressive 5-4 decision over All American Connor Kidd & a 7-2 decision over qualifier Wyatt Magolski.

Among the accomplishments that Carter West had last season, he also defeated All American Connor Kidd. A score of 5-3.

Charlie Pavis
WPI

Unfortunately Charlie Pavis had a bad Regional 1 last season, but showed potential for what he is capable of in '25-'26.  A 17-2 technical fall over qualifier Vince Ziccardi.

Matt Carroza
Trinity

Ironically enough, Matt Carroza was another tough wrestler who came up short of a top 8 finish at Regional 1.  He too owned a victory over qualifier Vince Ziccardi.  An 11-7 decision.

2025-2026 NCAA Division III Preview - 125 lbs

NCAA DIVISION III WRESTLING 125

Christian Guzman
North Central

3rd-2nd-2nd in the D3 nation & 94 career wins, there's only one thing left for the Florida native to accomplish in his already extremely decorated career.  That is to win an NCAA Division III title. While nothing is a given, the Cardinal will be the clear favorite until proven otherwise.

Brayden Parke
Coe

Only a sophomore & the Kohawk is already in route on a plan to become a two-time All American this season (5th last year) as well as a two-time Region 6 champion. The Linn-Marr native also won the Coe Open last year with a 27-7 overall record.

Jake Craig
Southern Maine

The Husky enters his senior season now a three-time NCAA Division III qualifier with Regional finishes of 2nd-3rd-2nd & All American finishes of 4th & 6th.  He will look to win his first Regional title this year & end his career a three-time NCAA DIII place-winner.

Isiac Paulino
Roanoke

The future state cop was 3rd in both Region 4 & the Pete Willson Invitational last year, while taking runner-up honors at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).  22-8, he was one match shy of D3 All American honors.

Quinton Wolbert                Ino Garcia
UW-La Crosse

Quinton Wolbert had himself a pretty solid season last year winning 22 matches in route to a 4th place Pete Willson finish, a 3rd place showing at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) & a Region 7 finish.  He was one match shy of NCAA Division III All American honors.  He's not the only talent the Eagles have at 125 lbs, however. Ino Garcia is a tough wrestler in his own right.  Nearly majored qualifier Connor Fiser 8-1.

Gavin Bradley
Castleton

What a decorated career it has been for Gavin Bradley of Castleton.  Thus far 101 career victories, including R12-7th-R12 finishes at the national tournament & 3rd-2nd-3rd at Regionals.  Defeated Parke twice last season, 11-8 & once by major 15-5.  Has won Ithaca, Roger Williams & Ted Reese.  34-8 in '24-'25.

Jalen Dunson
UW-Whitewater

A Pete Willson champion last season, Jalen Dunson has twice been one match shy of NCAA Division III All American honors, going 7th-1st-3rd at Regionals.  5th-3rd-2nd thus far in the WIAC, he took 3rd at the North Central Invitational.

Malik Asfour
Eastern (PA)

The Eastern Eagles begin their season ever of NCAA Division III wrestling in '25-'26, and it is a high probability that they could have their first qualifier this year in Malik Asfour!  Competing for Delaware Valley last season, thus far Asfour has been 7th & 3rd at Regionals. 25 wins on the year, he was the runner-up at the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Tomah Gummow

Nikko Beato
USCGA

The San Diego native was another tough wrestler who finished one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification last season.  20-8 on the year, he owned a 2:53 fall over Malik Asfour & finished as the Doug Parker Invitational runner-up.

30-3 on the year, with 22 of those 30 wins coming via bonus points, Harrison Gordon won titles at both the Ned McGinley Invitational & the Racich Rumble.  He finished one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification.

    Tony Urso                       Ben Rubin
Washington & Lee

The Generals have two super tough wrestlers here at 125 lbs, and both of these guys are only sophomores.  Tony Urso put together a 21-10 season last year, finishing one match shy of NCAA Division III qualification.  A gifted student, Urso excels in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.   Teammate Ben Rubin put together a 15-6 season, which included an 8-6 win over four-time Regional place-winner Joey Lamparelli.  Rubin also a champion Marching Band member, is a third degree black belt in Tang Soo Do.  Anxious to know if those techniques/strategies help with wrestling.

Zach Dellinger
Penn State Behrend

The Lion earned an 8th place finish at Regionals last season.

Jake DelVecchio
York (PA)

Losing records in both his freshman & sophomore seasons, I'm anxious to see if Jake DelVecchio doesn't end up being one of those, "completely came out of nowhere" types in '25-'26.   Hear me out...

Stuck Alex DeFour at 4:21 last season & majored Jesse Johnson 14-4.  Also defeated Pat Horvath on two occasions 2-1 & 2-1, plus a 4-2 victory over Jack Thode.
