If you've been following along & reading my thoughts team by team on the upcoming 2026-2027 season, you know I've mentioned the late Ron Steube numerous times thus far. He loved wrestling & was very passionate about its growth in the south. He started a program back in the 1970's at Chattahoochee Valley & was instrumental in the first time Huntingdon had wrestling. He loved watching wrestling thrive in the south & I know if he were still around he'd be so thrilled to see how well the Falcons are doing.
Montevallo put 8 on the award stand at Super Region II last year & they did so with mainly southern boys from Georgia & Alabama. Three NCAA D2 qualifiers. Only two do not return, as the other six look for more success in 2026-2027.
Both Max Stedeford & Jeff Tubbs ended their careers one match shy of being NCAA D2 qualifiers.
125 Cole Hunt
29-4 on the year, the Georgia native won a Super Region II title, along with finishing 7th at the Midwest Classic. He also won the Pepsi Patriot Open & the Georgia Open.
133 Noah Smith
10-1 on the year, I would definitely look forward to some big things out of Noah Smith this season.
141 Kaden Brown
20 wins on the year, Kaden Brown finished 5th at Super Region II & 2nd at the Pepsi Patriot Open.
157 Carson Freeman
An NCAA D2 qualifier for the purple & gold last year, Carson Freeman has thus far been 4th & 3rd in Super Region II. 22 wins on the year, he was also 2nd at the Pepsi Patriot Open.
165 Jake Chisolm
The two-time NCAA D2 qualifier heads into his senior season with back-to-back 3rd place showings at Super Region II.
174 Aiden Knight
Aiden Knight was 5th at last year's Super Region II
HWT Willie Cox
25 wins on the year, Willie Cox was 5th at Super Region II. 3rd at both the Pepsi Patriot Open & the Georgia Open.
