Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Maine Presque Isle

A Division III school, the Owls of Maine Presque Isle had a wrestling program at one time.

Gene Roy

Roy a member of the Owl wrestling program, started the men's cross county team at the school.

Gerald "Hutch" Hutchinson

The story of Hutch Hutchinson is a rather unique one.  He never wrestled in high school.  He never wrestled in college.  In fact his relationship with wrestling started at a chance encounter.  He was a standout goalie on the high school soccer team & ended up playing goalie for the Owls.  While at Maine Presque Isle he was also a manager of the men's basketball team.  The wrestling coach asked him if he'd be interested in being a manger of the wrestling team.  Hutchinson accepted & thus began a love affair with the sport.

Post college,  Hutchinson took a job as the head wrestling coach for Penobscot Valley High school.  He lead his team to an overall dual record of 514-140, including 90 duals straight.  This included winning five state titles.
