If it wasn't for a mistake in a 1998-1999 media guide for the University of Iowa, I would not know that Kirkwood, a small community college twenty miles north of Iowa City ever had wrestling. It claims that Jamie Heidt won a NJCAA title for Kirkwood in 1996. Truth is, Heidt actually won an NJCAA title for Ellsworth Community College.
None the less in a discussion with Jason Bryant, I came to find out that Kirkwood did indeed have a wrestling program. It started in 1973-1974, but I am not sure when it ended. That's the only information I have thus far on the program.
