Four (Or More) Time State Champions in College = Nevada

There are times when being wrong is exactly what you want to be. This is one of those times. I'm hoping to find out that when studying Nevada's four time state champions, that there really weren't twenty of them that did not wrestle in college. That's an awful high number of quality wrestlers who decided not to wrestle at the next level. Yet if it is true, it would make sense. Nevada has never had much in terms of collegiate wrestling. Both UNLV & Nevada-Reno both fielded varsity programs at one time, but other than that, it's been very barren other than the more recent addition of UNLV's NCWA club program. In the days before the internet, the powerhouse programs in other states weren't flocking to Nevada to pick up recruits. So maybe the #'s of those who did not wrestle in college really are this high. Rather depressing if that is indeed the case. More than welcome, "Hey he actually did wrestle in college at...."

Granted I still have the rest of the N's & then O-W (as their are no states that start with X, Y or Z) to go but I wouldn't be surprised if Nevada ends up the state with the most "went the football route."   5 four time States champions to go the football route seems like a contender if not a record. As said previously I hope to find out differently for the others that I was wrong in what I found & they actually did wrestle in college.
