125 Devin Schroder Vs Liam Cronin
With Schroder leading the series 3-1, all of the matches between the two have been very close. While Cronin has won a 3-1 match, Schroder has won 3-1 S.V., 3-2 and 6-4. An upset is not out of the question, but Schroder does such a good job of wrestling well in tight situations that it is hard to bet against the Boilermaker when he has the higher ranking.
133 Matt Ramos Vs Alex Thomsen
Neither one of these guys is currently ranked at the moment, but both of these guys own wins over quality opponents & ride the edge of being top 33 by season's end. While a win over the other isn't a win over a ranked opponent, it is still a quality victory & will help when it comes to seeding in the BIG 10 tournament.
141 Parker Filius Vs Chad Rad
The last time the two met, Red scored an 11-3 major decision over Filius. However, I doubt we see a major out of the Husker in this one. Red hasn't been nearly as aggressive as he has been in years past & seems to be wrestling a more conservative style. Still predict a win for Red, but a tighter score.
149 lbs Trey Kruse Vs Ridge Lovett
Here's a match where the Huskers can score some bonus points. Predict nothing less than a major for Lovett against Kruse here.
157 Kendall Coleman Vs Peyton Robb
Recent results, as well as rankings favor the Cornhusker over the Boilermaker in this one, but keep in mind the last time the two met, it was Coleman who hand his hand raised with a 3-2 decision. This dual will be full of many good matches, but this could easily end up the match of the night.
165 Emil Soehnlen Vs Bubba Wilson
Wilson recently pinned Soehnlen at CKLV in the first period, but no guarantee that he can pin him again. Soehnlen is one of those wrestlers that has about 15 different settings. Still predict a win for Wilson, but it could be by any score. A tight decision, a blow out major decision or he might even pin him again. Hard to say.
174 Gerrit Nijenhuis Vs Mikey Labriola
Nijenhuis is a top twenty wrestler himself, but Labriola is a NCAA title contender and I think the gap between the two will show in this match. Predict a major for the Huskers in this match.
184 Max Lyon Vs Taylor Venz
Lyon and Venz have met three times previously and Venz has won all three matches. Scores of 4-1, 5-3 and 9-4. Predict a similar finish here.
197 Thomas Penola Vs Eric Schultz
This is a match that interest me. While they two have never met, Penola and Schultz finished 3rd & 2nd at CKLV respectively, with similar scores against the same opponents. Venz defeated Louie Deprez of Binghamton 2-0 in the quarterfinals, while Penola defeated him 7-5 in the consolation quarterfinals. Schultz defeated Oklahoma's Jake Woodley 6-2 in the semi-finals while Penola defeated him 6-5 for 3rd place. Neither has been an All American yet in their careers, but both are AA material. A win for either is crucial in BIG 10 seeding.
HWT Michael Woulfe Vs Christian Lance
Lance a top 12 wrestler in the nation probably won't get a major here, but should win by a decisive decision.
