Pennsylvania Vs Pittsburgh (1-7-2022)

For you east coast, Pennsylvania fixated wrestling fans this dual between the Quakers and the Panthers is going to be a real treat. 9/10th's of Pittsburgh's lineup are natives of PA where as ironically enough only three natives make up Pennsylvania's.  Four of the Quakers come from nearby New Jersey, always wanting to be a bigger part of the discussion & interestingly enough both teams have starters from Florida, easily our most underrated wrestling state.

125 - Ryan Miller Vs Gage Curry

Youth Vs experience in this one. Miller has put together a very respectable record thus far for a true freshman going 9-3 on the season, recently placing 2nd at the Matmen open. Curry on the other hand is a senior who's been around forever, looking for his fifth NCAA qualification.  Miller has found a way to beat Carter Bailey of Lehigh, whereas Curry has not and Curry has found a way to beat Justin Cardani of Illinois, whereas Miller has not.  This will be an interesting match.

133 - Michael Colaiocco Vs Mickey Phillippi

Despite the fact that Phillippi finished runner-up compared to Colaiocco who finished one match shy of placing at the Matmen Open, I still think Colaiocco can give Phillippi a decent match. Dare not look at an upset, but keep it to a decision? I think so.

141 - C.J. Composto Vs Cole Matthews

This is a rematch that I am looking very forward to. Composto upended Matthews 7-5 in the Matmen semi-finals where he eventually finished 2nd to Matthews' 3rd.  This is at Pittsburgh so it should favor the Panther as he looks to avenge the loss.

149 - Anthony Artalona Vs Dan Mancini

If we start at 125 lbs, this will be the first match of the evening that will not be a toss up.  This one highly favors that EIWA champ Artalona against Mancini.  Could easily see a major here.

157 - Doug Zapf Vs Elijah Cleary

Another rematch I am looking very forward to. In the finals of the Matmen Open Clearly edged Zapf in an exciting 9-8 slobberknocker, full of plenty of action.  This should be another great match between two very talented grapplers.

165 - Lucas Revano vs Jake Wentzel

Wentzel recently defeated Revano 4-0 in the consolation semi-finals at the Matmen Open.  I see a similar result here.

174 - Nick Incontrera Vs Hunter Kernan

This is a match that leaves me totally stumped on what to think. These guys mirror one another in a variety of ways, even though I think on paper this one slightly favors Incontrera. The best comparison is Jake Logan of Lehigh, who they both have a one point loss to.

184 - Neil Antrassian Vs Gregg Harvey

Another rematch from the Matmen Open.  Harvey defeated Antrassian 8-3 for 7th place.  Being at Pittsburgh, Harvey may be able to take advantage of wrestling at home and turn this one into a major.

197 - Cole Urbas Vs Nino Bonaccorsi

While the two did not meet at the Matmen open, Bonaccorsi finished runner-up to Urbas taking 5th.  Bonaccorsi also an NCAA runner-up, should put bonus points on the board for the Panthers.

HWT - Ben Golden Vs Jake Slinger

Again, the two did not meet at the Matmen open but we have Jake Slinger who finished 6th and Golden who finished 7th.  Another toss up, this one could go either way.
