Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Wright State

Wright State Raider wrestling began in the 1973-1974 season & came to an end after the 1992-1993 season.  During their 19 years on the mat,  they finished a high of 10th place at the 1985 NCAA Division II championships. 

Craig Miller
126 lbs 

During his sophomore season of 1979-1980, Miller became the first All American for the Raiders when he placed sixth at the NCAA Division II national tournament.  He went 30-3 that season. 

Tim Begley
126 lbs 

Begley was a four time NCAA Division II All American for the Raiders.  He placed fifth in 1984, fourth in 1985 & fifth again in 1986. 

Ken Davis
158 lbs 

Davis made the NCAA Division II finals in 1985 & followed it up with a sixth place finish in 1986. 

Chris Gelvin
126 lbs 

Gelvin came to Wright State from Fairmont High school where he put together a record of 82-8 winning the state title his junior season.  Competing for the Raiders, Gelvin took sixth place All American honors at the 1987 NCAA Division II tournament. 

Skip Smith
134 lbs 

Smith took NCAA Division II All American honors in 1987 with a fourth place finish.
