More Than Wrestling - Volume 2 of 2

Starting right where we left off, more wrestlers that went on to do interesting things beyond wrestling. As noted in Volume 1 this includes interests other that MMA/UFC, Professional Wrestling & Professional Football as all three of those endeavors already have multiple lists. 

Jim Putman 

Christian Author & lead pastor of Real Life Ministries in Idaho, Jim Putman was a NJCAA finalist for North Idaho & later a NAIA finalist for Montana Western before finishing up his wrestling career at Boise State. 

Les Gatrel 

Gatrel is a part of the charity "Wrestling Multiple Sclerosis" which provides free bicycles from individuals suffering from the disorder. He was a three time NCAA Division II qualifier for Missouri-St Louis. 

Larry Wetzel 

Wetzel the vice president of Ball Asia Pacific, a multimillion dollar  manufacturer & distributor of  metal containers was a NCAA Division II qualifier for Missouri-Rolla. 



Floyd Vaughn 

Hollywood actor and stuntman Floyd Vaughn was a conference champion for Rocky Mountain College. 

Rodney Hampton 

Unfortunately I was unable to find a picture of Rodney Hampton, but his contributions to society as well as to wrestling were too important not to include.  A four time conference champion & four time NAIA All American for Livingstone, he was a part of the research development team that developed a HIV/AIDS diagnostic kit. 

Thomas Otterson

Thomas Otterson is believed to have the largest collection of golf memorabilia in the world. He wrestled at Macalester finishing 2nd-3rd-3rd his final three years in the conference. 

Mike Carolan

Carolan, a two time CCCAA champion for Diablo Valley worked security for the Oakland Raiders. 

Hank Danaceau

Danaceau was an extremely successful orthopedic surgeon, having practices in Michigan, Ohio & Virginia. He was a three time conference champion for Oberlin. 

Joseph Allen IV

NASA astronaut & scientist Joseph Allen who also appeared in the film Armageddon, wrestled for DePauw where he was 3rd in the conference. 

Daniel Fay

1971 Olympic Bronze medalist in the Bobsled, Daniel Fay wrestled at SUNY-Canton. 

Harold "Bud" Gregg

Bud Gregg was famous for a couple of different reasons. He is said to be the first individual that implemented putting weights on college campuses for athletes so that they could train with them. He was also vice president of Stone Container Corp, a multimillion dollar world-wide packaging company. He wrestled for Grinnell College. 

Cung Le

Le is also an MMA fighter, but has been in a multitude of films & television shows as an actor. He won a CCCAA title for West Valley. 

Wayne Martin 

Martin, a three time NCAA champion for Oklahoma, worked out in Hollywood for a short amount of time as a personal trainer. Among his clientele John Wayne & Bob Hope.

There you have it. I'm sure that there are many more wrestlers who lead interesting lives, who are doing exciting and intriguing things. This is what I was able to come up with. Hope you enjoyed Volumes 1 and 2 of "More Than Wrestling."
