The Pointers do lose four outstanding talents this season, but they also return six outstanding talents. 2026-2027 looks to be a successful year for UW-Stevens Point Pointers wrestling.
Hated seeing Luca Paladino's career end the way it did. You never want to see someone go out because of injuries. Not like that, not that way. Nonetheless wrestling isn't a destination, it's a journey. A Regional VII champion as a sophomore & one match shy of NCAA D3 qualification as a junior. Would I call his senior year a success, even though it ended like it did? Absolutely. You make the finals of Pete Willson & you win a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) title? It may not have been everything you wanted in a season, but those stats still make it a successful season.
Heart goes out to Carson Trotzer. 6th-4th-4th, he came so close to calling himself an NCAA D3 qualifier, but never did quite make it. Yet, 4th & 1st at Pete Willson & 3rd at the WIAC.
Logan Neitzel finished off his career with 6th & 5th place Regional VII showings.
Jack Callen was 7th at Regional VII.

An NCAA D3 qualifier for the Pointers last season, Caleb Nobling finished 3rd at Regional VII.

7th-4th-2nd thus far at Regional VII, Riese Thornberry looks to become a four-time Regional VII place-winner & a two-time NCAA D3 qualifier this season. He won 28 matches last year & placed 2nd at Concordia-Wisconsin.

Winning 25 matches last season, Deakin Trotzer was 6th at Regional VII

| 165 Dylan Cariveau |
A Wildlife ecology major, Dylan Cariveau earned NCAA D3 qualification last year for the purple & gold with a 3rd place showing at Regional VII. He won 27 matches.

| 165 Caden Young |
With two tough 165 lbs'ers on the team, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them doesn't bump up to 174, now that Carson Trotzer is out of eligibility. Caiden Young won 20 matches last year, finishing 3rd at both Trine & Concordia-Wisconsin. A match shy of being at Pete Willson place-winner.

A returning All-American for the Pointers, Easton Hull was 7th in the D3 nation a year ago & a Regional VII champion. 28 wins on the year, he won titles at the Pointer open, Trine & Al Hanke. One match shy of a top 8 finish at Pete Willson.
