CKLV 2025 - 141 lbs Preview!!

141

The madness of 125 lbs, the more grounded world of 133, we now take a look at 141 lbs.   We have obviously favorites here, but we also have some coming off of redshirt or back from injury, who could potentially make a lot of noise.  Some who dominated at other weight classes, yet to prove themselves at 141.

#2
Anthony Echemendia
Iowa State

7th & 4th thus far at CKLV, the Cuban looks to be the favorite to hone the *1 seed & look for a CKLV title this weekend.  A 20-4 technical fall over Grey Clark, a 17-3 major over Haiden Drury & a 14-4 major over Jordan Titus heavily suggest that if anything else, Echemendia should make the semi-finals without much issue.

#5
Zeth Romeny
Cal Poly

A CKLV champion last year at 133 lbs, Zeth Romney will be one of the biggest question marks here at 141 lbs this weekend. So far we have only a small glimpse of him at 141 lbs, which was a 6-5 tiebreaker victory over Grey Clark. Will Romney be as dominant and powerful at 141 lbs?  This weekend will answer that question.

#9
Dylan Ragusin
Michigan

It's been almost a year to the date we last saw Dylan Ragusin on the mat.  A former CKLV champion, also placing 5th & 8th, Ragusin obviously knows how to succeed at this tournament.  However, injuries are funny things.  Some are able to overcome them & come back stronger than ever.  Others unfortunately never do recover.  What will be the case with Ragusin? IF this is where we see him return, we'll soon enough find out.

#11
Julian Tagg
South Dakota State

It was clear in the dual Vs Minnesota that Damion Hahn has his Jackrabbits ready to go this season.  They wrestle as well here in Vegas as they did in Minneapolis, they could be bringing home a lot of medals.  Among the hopeful, Julian Tagg.  Owns a 10-3 decision over Nash Singleton.

#16
Haiden Drury
Utah Valley

Here's a guy that I'm really anxious to see compete this weekend.  3rd here all the way back in 2021 at 133 lbs, Haiden Drury has taken some time to adjust to the 141 lbs weight class.  A match away from a top 8 showing here last year, I say he's in a great position to bring home his second medal this weekend.  Where exactly on the award stand? I don't see him challenging Echemendia.  Romney & especially Ragusin are such question marks.  I think 5th through 8th is pretty fair and reasonable.  Owns a 5-2 victory over Julian Tagg, a 9-5 decision over Eli Griffin & 11-3, 5-1 & 4-1 s.v. scores over Nash Singleton.  He also kept it very close with Ragusin the last time they met, giving him a 4-3 match.

#17
Caedyn Ricciardi
Navy

A two-time New Jersey state champ, Caedyn Ricciardi is having himself a pretty good start to his collegiate career. A part of the resurgence of Navy wrestling, he's one of the Midshipmen's hopes for a medal this weekend.  Not sure if they'll match the four they crowned in 2021, but they are very capable of placing three.

#19
Tom Crook
Virginia Tech

Coming off of a redshirt, Tom Crook has thus far had some ups and downs in the '25-'26 season.   One of the ups that applies to this weekend is a 10-2 major decision over Jordan Titus, whom he also owns a 4-1 decision over as well.

#20
Pierson Manville
Arizona State

With an abundance of talented freshmen & some very accomplished NJCAA stars, it's not difficult to imagine Arizona State being very tough in the upcoming years.  Among the newcomers, Pierson Manville, a U20 Pan-American Gold medalist.

Non ranked wrestlers who will be looking for medals at 141 lbs this weekend?  Without a doubt & here they are.

U.R.
Jordan Titus
West Virginia

While he has lost to Tom Crook twice, Jordan Titus also know how to defeat Crook, as he proved that with a 6-3 decision.  Titus was also one match shy of placing last season, giving credence to the idea that it's likely he'll be in the the fight for top 8 once again.

U.R.
Josh Saunders
Cornell

A 4-2 win over Haiden Drury suggest that Josh Saunders could be one who stands on the award stand come Saturday night.

U.R.
Tyler Wells
Oklahoma

Once a one point match away from being an NCAA DI All-American, you'd think that Tyler Wells would be easily within the realms of a quarterfinal appearance or in the blood round looking for a medal here at CKLV.  However that was at 133 lbs & the talent is pretty strong this weekend here at 141 lbs.  Ups and downs thus far into '25-'26, we'll see how his luck fares in Vegas.

U.R.
Eli Griffin
Rider

Eli Griffin has shown us in the past that he knows how to come alive at opportune times. He's also been in matches with many he's likely to see here.  He gave Haiden Drury a 9-5 match, Jordan Titus a 5-2 match & he kept it real close with Julian Tagg in a 5-4 match.  It's not inconceivable to think he could turn any of those close losses into wins.
