Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Western Michigan

We are still feeling the effects of Eastern Michigan's loss as we watched former Eagles compete for new teams this season such as Noah Gonser who went on to Campbell & Sa'Derian Perry who went on to Old Dominion.  Yet on the other side of the state opposite of Ypsilanti, Kalamazoo suffered the same fate after the 1981-1982 season. The Broncos of Western Michigan at one time had a wrestling program as well & today we take a look at some of their best wrestlers.

Dennis Bullard
150, 158 lbs
After placing third in the state for Battle Creek Lakeview High School, Dennis Bullard was a two time NCAA qualifier for the Broncos in 70' & 71'.

Ron Miller
126, 134 lbs
During his time as a Bronco, Miller won MAC championships his sophomore & senior seasons of 71' & 73', finishing in third place at the 1972 tournament.

Doug Wyn
167 lbs
Without question, the Broncos best wrestler was 167 lbs'er Doug Wyn.  During his time at Western Michigan he won three MAC titles, finishing in fifth at the 1972 NCAA tournament & second in 1973 before capping off his career with a national title in 1974.  He accumulated 89 victories for the Broncos, 29 of which were by fall.
