Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Cal Poly Pomona

Those of us in the wrestling world are well aware of the dynasty of Cal Poly wrestling.  We know all of the great accomplishments that the Mustangs have had in NCAA Division II & NCAA Division I wrestling.  Yet did you know that the other Cal Poly also used to have a wrestling team?  Yes, along with San Luis Obispo, Pomona used to have a wrestling team as well.

I haven't been able to find out much about the Bronco wrestling team but I do think I can name their best wrestler.

Jim Broncatello
Jim Broncatello was a two time NCAA qualifier for the broncos in 1969 & 1970.  He would later go on to coach Claremont High School where he lead the team to 13 League titles.  He would then coach at Claremont Mudd Scripps College (another program we've lost) where he lead the team to a Regional title in 1982.

  1. I wish and would like to see people to bring back Cal Poly's Pomona wrestling team back.
