Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Wagner

A small private Division I school in New York City, today we look at some of the best wrestlers in the history of Wagner.

Dan Sanchez
190 lbs
Sanchez qualified for the NCAA championships in 1991

Joe Burke
150 lbs
A stellar freshman season, Burke seemed destined to be the best wrestler in Seahawk history.  He won the NEIWA (New England Intercollegiate Wrestling Association) & qualified for the NCAA championships. Unfortunately for Wagner and fortunately for Seton Hall, Burke decided to transfer.   Competing for the Pirates, Burke went on to a very successful career that included earning All American status in his junior and senior with fourth and third place finishes respectively.  He was also selected as a participant in the All Star meet.

Matt Gallagher
190 lbs
Without a doubt the best wrestler in Seahawk history was 1989 NEIWA champion Matt Gallagher.  The highest ranked wrestler Wagner ever had, Gallagher graduated with 112 victories, including 42 as a senior.
