Missouri vs North Carolina State Preview (Today at 3 P.M.)

Normally Mondays are days that society dreads.  A weekend away from work & then back to it on Monday morning.  Well this is no typical Monday.  At least not for college wrestling fans. This Monday there is a ton of wrestling going on. A ton of great wrestling going on.  Missouri Vs North Carolina State is a great example.

125 - Noah Surtin  Vs Jakob Camacho

Rankings favor Camacho over Surtin, but results suggest otherwise. Camacho is 0-3 Vs Virginia Tech's Sam Latona where Surtin stuck him a few weeks ago.  Make of that what you will as parity is king of the 125 lbs class. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

133 - Trey Crawford Vs Kai Orine

These two have never faced one another before and they have never faced any similar opponents. Orine is highly favored by ranking and I think it is a safe bet to go with that on this one.  Team points for the Wolfpack.

141 - Alan Hart Vs Ryan Jack

From where I sit this is going to be the match of the dual. Hart a R12 wrestler last season Vs Jack who in his "2nd" freshman campaign has yet to take a redshirt.  I think when it is all said and done, both of these guys are going to have All American honors on their resumes. Jack the younger brother of standout Kevin, looking to make a name for himself.  He's already 10-1 on the season & a win over Hart would only help to propel him towards that goal. A W over Jack would be good for Hart's season as well.  Both can gain a lot from defeating the other.

149 - Josh Edmond Vs Tariq Wilson

Edmond has proven himself to be a top 20 wrestler, but Wilson is a top 3 wrestler and I think it'll show in this match.  Wilson is one of the most unorthodox, make it up as he goes wrestlers in NCAA wrestling. The stranger position, the more likely Wilson is to score out of it.  I see major dec points for the Wolfpack in this one.

157 - Jarrett Jacques Vs Ed Scott/AJ Kovacs

Regardless of who starts for the Wolfpack this one favors the Tigers.  Not by huge margins, but it still favors the Tigers. I could possibly see an upset here, but I wouldn't bet on it.  Jacques by decision.

165 - Keegan O'Toole Vs Thomas Bullard

This match is a lot like 125 lbs.  Rankings say one thing, results say another.  O'Toole is a small mountain head of Bullard in the rankings, but take this into consideration.  Bullard is 3-0 Vs NCAA finalist Jake Wentzel of Pittsburgh, having defeated the Panther by thin margins in each match.  Wentzel defeated O'Toole 9-6.  Again in this sport, parity rules, so make of that what you will.

174 - Peyton Mocco Vs Hayden Hidlay

This one highly favors Hidlay IMO, but I do take into consideration that Mocco has pulled off some important upsets in the past. It's not lost on me that Mocco owns a victory over NCAA champion David Carr of Iowa State, someone Hidlay has not defeated.  Still going with Hidlay on this one though.

184 - Jeremiah Kent Vs Trent Hidlay

Similar to 149 lbs. Kent has proven himself to be a top 12 wrestler, but Hidlay is an NCAA title contender and I think it'll show in this match.  Major points? Questioning that.  Kent is a tough kid, tough to score on. Hidlay will have to work for his points in this one.  Thinking just a decision.

197  - Rocky Elam Vs Isaac Trumble

If 141 isn't the match of the dual, 197 will be.  Elam was 5th in the nation last season & on paper highly favored over Trumble, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see an upset out of the Wolfpack on this one.  Between this season and last, Trumble is 17-1.  Out of those 17 victories, one was a 6-1 decision over NCAA runner-up Nino Bonaccorsi of Pittsburgh. Keep your eye on Trumble. He's one of those wrestlers few are talking about right now, but by tonight, EVERYONE could very well being going on and on about this talented grappler.

HWT - Zach Elam Vs Owen Trephan

I think Trephan will give Elam a decent match, but the Tiger will still come out on top by the end of it. Predict a 1 to 2 point victory.
