2022: The Preseason: Ohio Bobcats

Looks to be a pretty respectable season for the Bobcats as they could sent up to 7 to the NCAA championships this season.

133
Mario Guillen
Senior
Record: 51-24
NCAA: 19'NQ, 21'NQ
MAC: 19'4th, 21'3rd

I think Guillen can make a run at the MAC title this season, or in the least be in the MAC finals.  Among his victories he owns a 12-4 major decision over All American Sa'Derian Perry of Eastern Michigan/Old Dominion as well as a 15-6 major decision over R12 Josh Finesilver of Duke.  He also owns a 5:19 fall over Codi Russell, SOCON champion of Appalachian State.

149
Alec Hagan
Junior
Record: 67-26
NCAA: 20'NQ
MAC: 20'3rd
MIDLANDS: 20'8th

Hagan is another Bobcat that can make a run at the MAC title this season.  He already owns a 2-1 tiebreaker victory over Brent Moore of Clarion, who will be his toughest in conference competition.  Along with his win over Moore, he also owns victories over Dresdon Simon of Central Michigan and Kizhan Clarke of North Carolina.

157
Jordan Slivka
Freshman: 21-9

Parity once again making headlines in collegiate wrestling.  One thing is for sure, Slivka has figured out Central Michigan's Johnny Lovett, having defeated the Chippewa twice by scores of 1-0 and 2-0.  Problem is, if he wants to qualify for the 2022 NCAA championships, he's going to have to figure everyone else out too.  It'll be fun to see how he does this season.

165
Colt Yinger
Sophomore
Record: 21-12
MAC: 21'7th

Yinger should improve upon his 7th place finish at the MAC championships last season. I see him somewhere between 4th & 5th place this year.  Most impressive is a 5-4 victory over three time NCAA qualifier Connor Flynn of Missouri, as well as a 10-2 major decision over SOCON runner-up Dazjon Casto.

174
Logan Stanley
Junior
Record: 32-36
MAC: 19'6th

A place-winner at the 2019 MAC championships, I'm surprised that Stanley has yet to make it back on the MAC award stand.  Consistency is an issue, but he has more than proved his capability with very notable wins in the past.  He owns a 16-0 technical fall over Layne Malczewski of Michigan State, a 4-1 victory over Michael Petite of Buffalo and perhaps most impressive a 3:25 fall over MAC runner-up Jeremiah Kent of Missouri.

184
Carson Brewer
Freshman
Record: 23-8

Brewer strikes me as another NCAA qualifier for the Bobcats.  He owns a 4-3 tiebreaker over DeAndre Nassar of Cleveland State who finished 3rd at the MAC's last season.

197
Jordan Earnest
Sophomore
NCAA: 20'NQ
MAC: 20'3rd

He did NOT look good last season going 0-7, but he did look pretty solid in 2020 going 23-11, finishing an impressive 3rd at the MAC championships.  While he's not beating Matt Stencel of Central Michigan, I think it is a probability that he could be the one to face him in the MAC finals. If not, I see no reason at all why Earnest couldn't finish in 3rd place again.  What it really comes down to is a likely semi-final match with Colton McKiernan of SIUE.  He owns a 6-4 victory over the Cougar.

149 - NQ
157 - NQ
165 - NQ
174 - NQ

Up to 7 NCAA qualifiers, two of which will fight for MAC titles and another that could find himself in the MAC finals.  Pretty solid year for the Bobcats.
