2025-2026 - NAIA Preview - 197 lbs

 


Garavous Kouekbakilaho
Grand View 


The San Diego native was an NAIA finalist in 2024 & an NAIA national champion this past season.   He'll look to add more gold, also including another Heart of America (HOA) title this season. 

Asher Ruchti
Southern Oregon

The former Oregon State Beaver had himself an excellent first season of NAIA wrestling, capturing a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) title & finishing 5th in the NAIA nation for the Raiders. 

Gentry Smith
Southeastern


The Idaho native, took runner-up honors at the Appalachian Athletic Conference this past season & 6th place at the NAIA national tournament. 

Elijah Hynes
Missouri Valley

The Viking has a rare opportunity this season to become a four-time NAIA All American.  Thus far Elijah Hynes has finished 8th-5th-7th in the national tournament.  He's also a three-time HOA place-winner, with finishes of 3rd-4th-3rd. 

Omari Smith
Oklahoma City


The Stars are looking bright this upcoming '25-'26 season.  Among the talent returning, Omari Smith was 8th in the NAIA nation in 2025.  He was also one match shy of being a Missouri Valley Invitational place-winner. 

Austin Vanek
Montana State Northern 


7th in the NAIA nation in 2023, Austin Vanek has came up short of earning another spot on the award stand in both 2024 & 2025.  He'll look to reclaim All American status in his final season of collegiate eligibility.  He'll also look to become a two-time Missouri Valley Invitational place-winner, as he was 5th this past season. 

Tyler Rowland 
Cumberland


Tyler Rowland was one match shy of being an NAIA All American & one match shy of being a Missouri Valley Invitational place-winner this past season.  He won the Mid-South Conference (MSC) title. 

Jeff McCauley
Keiser

31 wins for the Seahawk in his first season of NAIA wrestling.  Won the Pepsi Patriot Open & took 5th place in the AAC. 

Elijah Amaya-Perez
Montreat

Another tough freshman from last season, Elijah Amaya-Perez was 6th at the AAC. 

Trenton Blomquist
Embry Ridle


9-11 overall, Trenton Blomquist really turned it on towards season's end when he made the finals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC). 

Elias Corona
Southern Oregon


This is a weight class full of a lot of young talent, and Elias Cornoa is yet another tough sophomore that returns to the weight class.  3rd in the CCC last season. 

Eric Karas
Eastern Oregon


The former Sacramento City CCCAA finalist was 5th in the CCC this past season. 

Kaleb Grove
Northwestern (IA)


And we're right back to talking about young talent once again.  Sophomore Kaleb Grove was 4th in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) & one match shy of a medal at the Missouri Valley Invitational. 

Torrance Keehn
Concordia (NEB)


 
The Bulldog was 5th in the GPAC last season & 7th in the Missouri Valley Invitational. 



Donivan Giangregorio
Dickinson State


The former Oregon State Beaver was 4th at the Missouri Valley Invitational this past season.
