Midlands Preview (Fri Dec 29th-Sat Dec 30th) = 133 lbs

#7
Michael Colaiocco
Pennsylvania

3rd four years ago and a champion last year, Michael Colaiocco looks to defend the title he won here last year and he looks to be in excellent position to do so. The only DI ranked (by rankings I use) wrestler to be featured in the bracket, he will have some tough competition nonetheless.  Owns both an 8-0 major decision as well as a 3-1 decision over Julian Chlebove.

U.R.
Anthony Madrigal
Illinois

If anyone is going to challenge Colaiocco for a Midlands title this year, I believe that someone is going to be Anthony Madrigal of Illinois.  The former Sooner now Fighting Illini has pulled off some notable victories in the past & I wouldn't put it past him to pull off some notable victories again. One of those wrestlers that seems to appear and reappear in the conversation, he's about due for another performance.

U.R.
Julian Chlebove
Arizona State

I'd give Julian Chlebove an outsiders shot at winning the Midlands title. He'd have to figure out how to turn things around against Colaiocco, but I don't think it is out of the question.  He was 4th in last year's championships.

U.R.
Hunter Leake
California Baptist

The upset is one of the most sought after moments in wrestling & we all know that we're gonna see a fair share of upsets here at the Midlands. Is anyone capable of upsetting their way into the finals? I could plausibly see California Baptist's Hunter Leake doing so.  The Lancer is no stranger to upsets and if nothing else, will be a strong candidate for a top 8 showing here in Chicago.

U.R.                                    R.S.
  Marlon Yarbrough               Gable Porter
Virginia

The Cavaliers of Virginia have some good young talent at 133 lbs and I believe they will have it on full display here at the Midlands.  We'll get a chance to see both Marlon Yarbrough & currently redshirting Gable Porter in action. I believe both will be among those looking for a top 8 finish.

#6 in NCAA Division III
Tyler Fleetwood
UW-Eau Claire

As said before I believe we will see a handful of Non-DI wrestlers shine this tournament and our best bet at 133 lbs as far as I'm concerned in Tyler Fleetwood.  The Blugold was 3rd in the D3 nation last season & what a boost it would be to his confidence if he were to find himself on the award stand by Midlands' end.
