2025 Pete Willson Invitational - 165 lbs - (Fri Jan 31-Sat Feb 1)

165 will be quite tough this year at the Pete Willson Invitational.  Three ranked wrestlers, three returning NCAA DIII qualifiers & four returning PWI place-winners. Going to be some really good matches in this one.

#6
David Reid
Roanoke

An NCAA DIII qualifier last season, David Reid is likely to get the *1 seed this weekend.  Among the competition he owns a 16-2 major decision over Elijah Hunt.

#8
Braydon Peet
UW-Whitewater

Braydon Peet had a standout freshman season last year, which included finishing one match shy of NCAA DIII qualification & a 6th place finish at the Pete Willson Invitational.  Looks to improve in both areas, starting this weekend in Wheaton.  Owns a 4-3 decision over Alex Villar & an 11-2 major decision over Elijah Hunt. Also owns a 16-1 technical fall and an 8-0 major over Armando Murillo.

#12
Alex Villar
North Central

4th in the D3 nation in '22, it has been R12 finishes for Alex Villar in '23 & '24.  Looking to make his way back onto the award stand of DIII's most prestigious tournament, a good step in that direction would be to have a good finish at DIII's second most notable tournament, the Pete Willson Invitational.  Owns a 4:07 fall over Robert Flege.

U.R.
Teagan Hendricks
Ohio Northern

One of the best unranked wrestlers in the D3 nation, Teagan Hendricks was a national qualifier last season & 4th here at the Pete Willson Invitational.  Another such showing would put him within the rankings I would imagine.  Owns an 8-0 major decision and a 4:20 fall over Roger Deck.  Also owns a 7-5 victory over Elijah Hunt.

U.R.
Roger Deck
Mt St Joseph

21-8 on the season thus far, Roger Deck took a 5th place finish at last year's Pete Willson Invitational.

U.R.
Elijah Hunt
Concordia (MN)

The Cobber took a 7th place finish at last year's Pete Willson Invitational.

U.R.
Tate Flege
UW-La Crosse

One match shy of earning a medal last season at Pete Willson, Tate Flege will look to be top 8 this weekend.  Owns a 27-9 tech over Elijah Hunt & a 2:43 fall over Armando Murillo.

U.R.
Armando Murillo
North Central

Another tough member of the Cardinal wrestling team.  Along with Alex Villar, Armando Murillo is a likely candidate for place-winner status this weekend.  Was one match shy of a medal in '24.
