2025-2026 NJCAA Preview - North Plains District

Rochester Tech

Talk about domination.  The Yellow Jackets put 9 of 10 into the North Plains District finals & 7 of those 9 walked away as champions.  Sending all 10 to the NJCAA championships, Rochester Tech returns 6 of their varsity starters from last season.  I do know that Leo Tukhlynovych will be competing for Arizona State this season.

133 - Jake Aho was a North Plains District runner-up last season.

141 - Dylan Enriquez won a North Plains District title & he was 2nd at the Yellowjacket Open

165 - Kley Krause won a North Plains District title last season.

184 - Leighton Robb took a 2nd place finish at the North Plains District last season.

197 - Payton Garza finished 3rd at the North Plains District last season

HWT - Cito Tuttle, won both the North Plains District, as well as the Yellowjacket Open, finishing 8th in the NJCAA Nation.

Ridgewater

The Warriors were 2nd in the North Plains District, sending five to the NJCAA national championships.  All but one return.

133 Tegan Sherk had an outstanding season last year, winning a North Plains District title & finishing 3rd in the NJCAA nation.

141 - Brother Kyle Sherk took a 3rd place finish at the North Plains District

165 - James Morgan also took a 3rd place finish at the North Plains District

174 - Cody Brott was 4th at the North Plains District

Itasca

The Vikings sent four to the NJCAA championships last season.  To my knowledge, only one returns.

184 - Connor Gmahl won a North Plains District title last season

Northland

The Pioneers sent 8 to the NJCAA championships last season & return half of them.

125 - Gabriel Michel was the North Plains District runner-up last season

157 - Kale Geiser took a 3rd place finish at the North Plains District last year

174 - Bryan Arevalo, a native of Baltimore earned NJCAA qualification for the Pioneers last season

184 - Also earning NJCAA qualification, Chicago native Qilee Jackson

Minnesota West

The Bluejays sent four to the NJCAA championships last season & all four return.

149 - Joey Wilczek took a 3rd place finish at the North Plains District last season

174 - Sam Rock was the North Plains District runner-up last season & 7th in the NJCAA nation

184 - Florida native Aidyn Wolf took a 4th place finish at the North Plains District

HWT - Billey Mensah, a Texas native, took 4th at the North Plans District.

Bismarck State

Bismarck State reinstated its wrestling program & after a very short time back in the NJCAA, the Mystics will be moving up to the NAIA division.  What does this mean for those returning to the program?  I don't know.  Anxious to see if everyone remains at Bismarck State or if last year's freshmen find other NJCAA schools to continue competing at.

The Mystics sent four to the NJCAA championships last year.

Dillon Spaulding (157) & Dale Spillman (184) both made the North Plains District finals, as Isaiah Horan (197) took 3rd.  Both Spillman & Horan finished one match shy of NJCAA All-American honors.  Brendan W Kelly was another qualifier.
