The post season is here! It snuck up on us & the West District NJCAA qualifier featuring Region 18 is an already said & done thing! Most qualifiers happen over one or two weekends, but this season the NJCAA qualifiers happen over three weekends, and this upcoming weekend is one of them.
The South Central District is a very tough District featuring Region 2 & Region 6. #5 Fort Hays Tech Northwest looks to steal the show, but we'll see a lot of good wrestling out of #9 Pratt, #13 Labette, #14 Cowley, #15 Northeast Oklahoma, #19 Carl Albert State, #22 Cloud County, and the rest of the teams.
#6 Zane Donley Pratt 125 |
As they have the past two seasons, the Beavers of Pratt once again have one of the best 125 lbs'ers in not only the South Central District, but also in the NJCAA. Graduated Kaden Spragis last season, a two time South Central District finalist, who is now competing at Central Oklahoma. This year, they have a very talented Zane Donley, who looks to win the District title this Saturday & then compete for All American honors at the NJCAA championships.

Here in Iowa, we're under a winterstorm watch, with predictions of as much as 6 inches of snow. Not exactly the type of climate I enjoy. I imagine the weather might not be all that much better in Pratt, Kansas, but what I can tell you is that our likely finalist, are both from areas where the weather is usually good. SeanMichael Gonzalez a talented freshman from Florida, and Karim Allal a talented freshman from California.

A talented freshman from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Evan Rodriguez has slated himself as not only the likely South Central District champion, but also a favorite to win the NJCAA title. Look to have a good semi-final between Toryion Stallings & Kaiden Cue to determine our other finalist.

2024 South Central District champ Job Lee returns to defend his title. He'll have a hungry Davion King hot on his trail. King was one match shy of being an NJCAA All American last season himself. Also in this bracket, will be All American potential Cash Thomas of Pratt.

A three-time state champ out of Alabama, Melton Powe wasted little time in showing the NJCAA world that southern boys know how to scrap. Our likely South Central District champ this weekend, his finals opponent looks to be Dayton Bell of Fort Hays Tech Northwest.

A South Central District champion last year & an NJCAA champion last year, I am very confident that we'll see Otgonbayar Batsuuri repeat as champion this weekend. His likely finals opponent? Mac Chambers, an All American candidate out of Cloud County.

The future Cuban World & Olympic representative won a South Central District title last year & was 4th in the NJCAA. He'll look to repeat this Saturday.
A South Central District runner-up last season & 6th in the NJCAA nation, Matt Marcum looks to trade in the silver medal he won last year, for gold this weekend.
Our HWT final here in the South Central District looks to be between James Bankston a transfer from Appalachian State competing for Pratt & Jude Beers of NEO.
