Ok, so this obviously, isn't really an Or. Super Region VI champ & 3rd in the DII nation Crew Howard is going to be our starter for the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers this season. No doubt about it. However, I feel that Jake Boley deserves mention and recognition for being as tough as a backup as he is. In wrestling accomplishments and credentials are forever cemented in our brains, while everything else is soon forgotten. It is the way of the land, I'm not changing that. Simply pointing out that Boley is a tough wrestler. A 7-2 win over All American Luke Tweeton himself last season.

| La'Ron Parks St Cloud State |
The leader of the real Notre Dame the past three seasons, La'Ron Parks has collected three Super Region III bronze medals in a row, posting a 4th place All American finish at the NCAA DII championships last season. This year, he will compete for the Huskies of St Cloud State. He won 33 matches total last season.

You do NOT want to let this guy get an arm bar on you! 32-3 on the season, Isaiah Vance took 5th place All American honors at the DII championships. 2nd & 1st thus far in Super Region I, he has been 4th & 1st in the Midwest Classic.

| Zach Peterson Augustana (SD) |
In wrestling we're always looking for ways to inspire and encourage our athletes. Try this one on for size. Last season Zach Peterson of Augustana (SD) earned 6th place DII All American honors with a losing record! 3rd in the Super Region V, he stood at 8-10 by season's end. Just goes to show that if you wrestle well in the moment, the past is nothing but history.

| Ryan Herman Maryville |
You know what I think makes Ryan Herman extremely dangerous this season? The fact that he was the only one to hand two time NCAA DII champion Shawn Streck a loss in the past two seasons. Herman defeated him 11-10 in the finals of the Super Region IV. 34 wins on the season, Herman took 7th place All American honors at the DII championships. Heading into what will be his final season of competition he will also look for his first Midwest Classic medal, as he's been one match shy of a top 8 finish the past two seasons.

28 wins on the season last year Luke Tweeton was 8th in the DII nation & 5th at the Midwest Classic. He's thus far been 2nd & 1st in Super Region V.

25 wins on the season, Tyler Doyle was 2nd at Super Region VI, and one match shy of NCAA DII All American honors.

The sole reason we've heard the Canadian national anthem at the past two NCAA DII championships, TFT has taken back to back 3rd place finishes at Super Region VI. R12, he looks to become Simon Fraser's first All American since Ciaran Ball in 2019.

13 wins on the season, Lloyd Reynolds qualified for the NCAA DII championships, making the Super Region V finals. He had a 4-2 win over All American Zach Peterson & he stuck All American Ryan Herman at the 5:00 mark.

16 wins on the season, Tyler Haynes earned NCAA DII qualification with a 3rd place showing at Super Region IV.

| Gavin Shamblin Glenville State |
Also a member of the Pioneer football team, Gavin Shamblin won 29 matches last season & made the Super Region III finals. He had a 4-1 s.v. over All American La'Ron Parks.

| Layton Schmick East Stroudsburg |
30-4 on the season, Layton Schmick qualified for the NCAA DII championships with a 3rd place at Super Region I. One match shy of placing at the Midwest Classic, Schmick's biggest win of the year was a 3-2 tiebreaker over All American La'Ron Parks.

Clayton Ours enters his final season of competition having twice been one match shy of NCAA DII qualification with back to back 4th place finishes at Super Region III.

An 8th place NCAA DII All American in 2023, Jake Swirple narrowly missed out on another NCAA DII championship appearance last season by placing 4th at the Super Region V. On the season he defeated All American Luke Tweeton 2-1 tiebreaker & he had a 5-0 victory over qualifier Lloyd Reynolds.

A 12-2 major decision over R12'er Taniela Feliciano-Takafua on the season, Laith Ibrahim was one match shy of NCAA DII qualification, finishing 4th at Super Region VI.

19 wins on the season, Donald Paul finished one match shy of NCAA DII qualification, with a 4th place finish at Super Region IV. He had an 11-6 win over qualifier Tyler Haynes.

| Gavin Bage Frostburg State |
As the Bobcats of Frostburg State head into their second season back since restoration, they look to continue the tradition of qualifying wrestlers to the NCAA DII championships. Last year they qualified Thierno Diallo as their first since restoration. Along with Diallo, Gavin Bage could very well be a qualifier this season. He was 4th at the Super Region I last year, with 18 wins on the year.

10 wins on the season for Hamilton Cooper who finished one match shy of NCAA DII qualification with a 4th place finish at Super Region II.

| Daulton Mayer Thomas More |
As of the date this was written (7-17-2024) I'm still not sure if Thomas More is eligible for the post season or if they will competing in the NCWA. What I can say is that IF the Saints are indeed competing in the NCAA DII post season this year, we could very well be looking at an NCAA DII champion in Daulton Mayer. 34-4 last season, 30 of his victories were via fall! That's insane! Of his 4 losses, two were to NCAA DI wrestlers, and one was to Puerto Rican Olympian Jonovan Smith. On the year Mayer pinned Tyler Doyle (1:156), Clayton Ours (0:52 & 1:15), Devon Rice (4:07) & Gavin Shamblin (2:21). 4th at the Midwest Classic, and even more notable his 5th place finish at the Midlands made him the only non-DI wrestler to medal in Chicago last year.
UPDATE: Two things. First, Mayer will be competing for Bellarmine this season. Second, Thomas More is still not eligible for the NCAA DII post season & will be competing in the NCWA.

22 wins on the season, Tanner Gaffey defeated both All American Zach Peterson (4-0) & qualifier Lloyd Reynolds (4-1 s.v.). He placed 5th at Super Region V.

Trent Strong heads into his final season of competition having thus far posted 5th & 6th place finishes at the Super Region IV. Pardon the pun, but Strong looked particularly strong at the Midwest Classic where he took 7th place honors. 18 wins in total, one was a 5-3 decision over Donald Paul.

Nathan Schauer won 15 matches last season, nearly earning a medal at the Midwest Classic. Among his victories a 1:56 fall over qualifier Tyler Doyle & a 6:20 fall over qualifier Gavin Shamblin.

Jake Powell, who competed for Wheeling last season, will compete for Tiffin this season. 21 wins on the year he had a 10-8 victory of NCAA DII R12'er Matt Long. Pinning qualifier Gavin Shamblin in 0:22, he also had a 3-2 win over Gavin Bage.

Have a good wrestle off for the HWT spot at Mount Olive between Jalyn McClammy and John Domencic. On the season McClammy had a 7-3 victory over qualifier Gavin Shamblin, an 8-3 decision over Jacob Telles & a 7-6 win over Gain Bage. Domencic had a 2-1 win over qualifier Massimo Sullivan.

Chadron State picked up a really good one in Cody Pinkerton, a two time NJCAA All American for Northwest CC, who finished as the NJCAA runner-up last season.
