NJCAA Gulf Atlantic District Preview (Saturday February 17th)

Within all of the NJCAA District qualifiers this weekend, the Gulf Atlantic presents itself the most difficult to predict.  Not a single ranked wrestler in the entire District, but none the less, I'll make a few guesses.  Featuring regions 10, 19 & 20, this year's tournament is hosted by Lackawanna.

125 lbs

If I gotta try and make a guess as to who wins 125 lbs? I'm going with Hunter Fulp of Patrick & Henry, who was an NJCAA qualifier this past season.

133 lbs

I believe our final here will be between Trey Kratko of Patrick & Henry and Derek Renninger of Thaddeus Stevens. Both NJCAA qualifiers last season.

NO THOUGHTS ON 141 lbs

NO THOUGHTS ON 149 lbs

157 lbs

I think we have a Gulf Atlantic District final between last year's silver medalist Nik Pagnano & last year's bronze medalist Evan Raposo here at 157 lbs.

165 lbs

A Gulf Atlantic District champion last season, Dylan Hogan gives host Lackawanna confidence that they will crown at least one champion as host of the tournament this weekend.

174 lbs

4th in the Gulf Atlantic District last season, Simeon Hunte gives host Lackawanna another hope of crowning an individual champion this tournament.

184 lbs

An NJCAA qualifier last season, I believe that Robert Walters will give the Bulldogs of Thaddeus Stevens a champion at 184 lbs.

NO THOUGHTS 197 lbs

HWT

A Gulf Atlantic District runner-up last season, I believe competing on his home mats, in front of his home crowd, Shannon Clark (sorry about putting Core on the label for some reason) will trade silver for gold this tournament.  There to meet him in the finals?  My prediction is Shane Saulnier of Sussex County, who qualified after finishing 5th last season.
