2023-2024 NCAA Division III The Season: Top Returnees 174 lbs

To the sources I have available to me, we return all 8 NCAA DIII All Americans, plus two R12'ers to 174 lbs this season. It's often said to become a somebody in this sport you often have to beat someone that already is. That is most certainly the case here at 174 lbs.

Zane Mulder
Wartburg

NCAA DIII Champion Zane Mulder only lost once last season & as a matter of fact, he's only lost 4 times in total since transferring from Iowa State while at the same time collecting 61 victories.  Also a NWCA runner-up in 2021, he 4th in the D3 nation in 2022. He'll look for a second national title & a third All American honor this season, while also looking to win another Lower Midwest Regional title.

Jared Stricker
UW-Eau Claire

Challenging Mulder for the NCAA DIII title this season will be Jared Stricker. Only a junior & he's already collected an assortment of achievements. 41-3 on the season he was NCAA D3 runner-up last year, losing a tight 7-5 match to Mulder. 3rd & 1st thus far in the Upper Midwest REgional, he's thus far won two WIAC titles & a Pete Willson Invitational.

Seth Brossard
UW-La Crosse

Also in the hunt is two time NCAA DIII All American Seth Brossard who has been 7th & 3rd the past two seasons. An Upper Midwest Regional Champion in 2022, he was runner-up this past season. As the feud continues with Jared Stricker, he stuck the Blue-Gold in 2:21 while going 30-3 on the year.

Charlie Grygas
SUNY-Oswego

So much talk about talent from the Midwest, now we look at some talent from the east coast. 31-3 on the season, the three time NCAA DIII qualifier collected his first All American honor with a 4th place finish last season. Thus far 3rd-2nd-1st in the Mideast Regional, he will look to win another title this season, as well as a second ECWC title. Also a Pointer Open Champion, he scored a 5-3 decision over Seth Brossard.

Stefan Major
Stevens Tech

Before I say too much about Stefan Major, I first want to thank him. If it wasn't for the generous copper Lincoln he ceremoniously donated last season, I don't know where JT#1 would be. Said he enjoys proving me wrong on my predictions, but in this particular case I hope he proves me correct. Why? Cause I'm predicting three things about the Duck to be true at the end of the '23-'24 season.  I'm predicting the two time D3 All American to become a three time All American (7th in '22 & 5th in '23).  I'm predicting him to win another Southeast Regional title & I'm predicting him to win his third MAC title.

LJ Richardson
Coe

The brighter the lights, the brighter it seems LJ Richardson wrestles. 20-9 on the season the Texas native was runner-up at the Lower Midwest Regional while collecting 6th place All American honors at the DIII national championships.

Seth Goetzinger
Augsburg

28-9 on the season, Seth Goetzinger was 3rd in the Upper Midwest Region & 7th in the D3 nation. Among his other highlights, titles won at both the Luther Open & the Augsburg Invitational.

Quite the sophomore season for Anson Dewar last year as the Mule went 30-4 on the season winning titles at the CCC, Petroes & Under Amour. He was 2nd at the Mideast Regional & 8th in the D3 nation.

Colby Morris
Waynesburg

I'm not sure where Colby Morris was in '20-'21 or '21-'22, but when he made his return last season, he did so with a bang. 29-4 on the season he finished 2nd in the southeast regional & one match shy of D3 All American honors.

Marco Gaita
