UW-Parkside Vs UW-Whitewater (11-8 Saturday)

We're constantly in debate over who is better? D2 or D3?  Well, let's stop talking about it & let's get on the mat and actually see!  Cross Division Cross Fire!!  Ranked #6 in NCAA D2 UW-Parkside Rangers Vs Ranked #6 in NCAA D3 UW-Whitewater Warhawks!  This is going to be a great dual, full of a lot of fun and exciting matches! Let's take a look!

#3 Shane Corrigan Vs #3 Jalen Dunson
125

7th-6th-5th in the NCAA D2 Nation, Shane Corrigan enters his final season of collegiate competition looking to achieve the rare accomplishment of four-time All American.  His opponent, Jalen Dunson his finished the last two seasons one match shy of being an All American in Division III.  These two have met on two occasions, with Corrigan winning via technical fall each time.  Another technical fall would be big points in this dual between D2's #6 & D3's #6.  Anxious to see what happens.

#9 Matthew Chi Vs U.R. Jonah Edwards
133

In my opinion, Matt Chi has proven through wins & results that he is one of the best wrestlers yet to make the NCAA Division II national tournament.  Obviously, the ranking committee of theopenmat.com agrees, as they have him ranked just a hair below All-American caliber. With that said, do not let the unranked next to Jonah Edwards' name fool you.  He was a backup last season at 125, but a backup that did some big things.  Nearly majored Gavin Bradley of Castleton (an NCAA D3 title contender in his own right) by a 12-5 decision.  Anxious to see how this one turns out.

U.R. Troy Dolphin Vs #14 Justin Fortugno
141

Both of these guys are looking to prove themselves in '25-'26.  Justin Fortugno was a backup to Dom Mallinder last season, but still showed signs of greatness, including a 6-3 decision over D3 qualifier Chance Suddeth.  Again with the unranked, you can't let that deter you for a second.  Troy Dolphin is a tough wrestler.  Don't take my word for it, an 8-6 decision over D2 finalist & recent NWCA All-Star Classic winner Khyvon Grace speaks for itself.

The last these two met? Dolphin won a tight 8-5 s.v. decision.

#4 Jalen Spuhler Vs #5 Dom Mallinder
149

We as wrestling fans are just plain spoiled getting to see a match of this caliber this early in the season.  Jalen Spuhler two-time NCAA D2 All-American with finishes of 4th & 6th.  Dom Mallinder who is looking to become a four-time Regional champion, with D3 finishes of 6th & 5th.  You grab the popcorn, I'll get the drinks. Sit down & enjoy!

#18 Easton Worachek Vs #15 Luke Swan
157

I recently had Reece Worachek on JT1Wrestle & he informed me that he expects some big things out of Easton this season.  He said last year Easton was not wrestling at his best weight class & that he should perform a lot better at 157.  5th at Super Region V last year, Luke Swan will be a great test for the Ranger this Saturday.  Swan himself is looking to move up the ladder.  6th at Regionals last year, it was the Pete Willson Invitational where the Warhawk really shined taking a 3rd place finish.

#6 Brody Hemauer Vs #3 Braydon Peet
165

Have another battle of All-Americans here at 165 lbs.  Brody Hemauer was 6th in the D2 nation this past season, as Braydon Peet who was also a champion at both Regionals & Pete Willson, took 4th in the D3 nation.  Take this for whatever it is worth, which may be absolutely nothing, but Peet does own three wins over Brady Schuh who is now competing at 184 lbs.

#6 Dajun Johnson Vs #14 Jermaine Butler
174

Former Northern Iowa Panther Dajun Johnson enjoyed his first season in NCAA Division II last year, taking 3rd place All-American honors.  He'll face a returning Jermaine Butler, an NCAA D3 qualifier from 2024, who also won the prestigious Pete Willson Invitational.

#19 Brady Schuh Vs #17 Gavin Kohel
 184

Collegiate wrestling is all about proving yourself each and every time you step out on to the mat. Neither one of these wrestlers have yet to make their respected national tournament, but both have their eye set on achieving that credential in 2026.  Gavin Kohel was 5th at both Regionals & Pete Willson last season.  Brady Schuh, has been 4th & 6th the past two Super Region V's.
