Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Their Best = Solano

Interestingly enough Solano Community College formally known as Vallejo junior College is the home of Arthur Leigh Allen who many believed to have been the Zodiac killer who murdered close to forty people throughout a stint in the 60's & 70's within the San Francisco Bay area.   Although Allen did wrestle in high school, his standout sport was Swimming & Diving.  Competing for the Falcons, Allen won a conference title in 1952, earning an 11th place finish at the CCCAA championships.   Not everyone will find that interesting. I know I do.

As to wrestling, Solano I believe dropped sometime during the 1970's.

Dave Osterkamp
177 lbs

The story of Dave Osterkamp is a rather tragic one.  Originally from Minnesota, he moved to California with his family during high school, where he attended Vallejo.  Also a standout football player, he was named Lineman of the Year while making All Conference.

As a wrestler he won a CCCAA title in 1971 but would sadly take his own life a little over two weeks later.

Alex Gonzales
126 lbs

Gonzales was a two time CCCAA place-winner for the Falcons.  He was fourth in 1972 & fifth in 1973.  He went on to continue his career at San Francisco State University where he won back to back Far Western Conference titles in 1975 & 1976.  Winner of the 1975 NCAA Division II championship, he finished as the runner-up in 1976.
