Gone, Lost & Forgotten: Calumet of St Joseph

If you go back and study the history of collegiate wrestling, you'll discover that there were a lot of wrestling programs that seemed to appear out of nowhere and then disappear without a trace.  You'd not see a program for the longest time, suddenly it'd be there and then a few years later, poof, it was gone.  It's almost as if a school were simply trying out a wrestling program and if it wasn't yielding the results they were wanting, they got rid of it.  Seems like a practice that was done a lot in 70's, but not so much today.  Or at least, not so much today before the COVID-19 crisis, where athletic directors licked their lips and sharpened their axes.  Ever since the coronavirus of 2019, certain schools have done their best to quietly eliminate their wrestling programs.  Calumet of St. Joseph was one of them.  Started in the 2009-2010 season, the mats were rolled up permanently after the 2021-2022 season.
